Man, the Dems have got their talking points out and they are ALL making a full court press ahead of inauguration about keeping "muh illegals" here.

While their point is correct - illegal minorities do a lot of the ****-tier jobs out there - it is absolutely racist and stereotyped to use this as a talking point.

Im nearly 70 years old. I have a faint memory of seeing cotton picked by hand. Even then, that was just to harvest the early maturing bolls, and the majority of the crop was machine stripped (on the South Plains)

Now, one man, one macine, does the work that a hundred pickers did. Heck, when I got out of A&M, we used 3 men and five machines to do what one man does now.

Same for cucumbers. 100% hand picked in the 80s, 100% machine now

My grandfather was a farmer his whole life in the Robstown/Violet area. My grandmother loved to tell this story about how she and my grandfather were out at dinner with another farmer and his wife (all in their 70s at the time) and the husbands were having a long conversation about hiring strippers, particularly trying to decide if they should they hire American strippers locally or go down to the border and hire Mexican strippers to save some money. The waitress overheard the conversation throughout dinner and before they left she told my grandmother and the other farmer's wife that she didn't think it was right that their husbands would talk about such things right in front of them and that they shouldn't put up with that kind of behavior. My grandmother laughed so hard she couldn't breathe and the other wife had to explain to the indignant waitress that they were talking about farm equipment. Then, just to pile on, my grandmother told the waitress that if the men wanted to hire women to take their clothes off, they could only afford Mexican strippers down on the border. Everyone got a good laugh, except the embarrassed waitress, and they left her a nice tip.

Democrats still think that Agriculture is something out of Places From the Heart or Cider House Rules where masses of unskilled labor go out and plant and harvest. The reality is much of it is done by highly efficient machines now and in the coming decades more and more of the labor that is left will likely be done by robots like what Musk is making. This is especially true in the US with our fertile land and open fields. Not that facts matter to these people. Instead they want to push their racism.

As a kid we always visited my Aunt and Uncle in southwest Oklahoma, just north of Vernon, Tx. When we got there my Aunt said "here's your hoe" for chopping weeds out of very large cotton patch. I never picked any.
