Trudeau used to stand at airports and welcome in Muslims from the US. It was his way to virtue-signal how welcome he was. Then the same Muslims got violent (along with Sikhs/Khalistanis) and are creating a ruckus in Canada and showing signs of taking over. So Trudeau, with next year's election in mind is reversing course.
Immigration cannot be forever and without limits. We may be have a lot, but it still is finite. Time to stop immigration for a few years until we resolve internal dynamics and then open the country only to the best and brightest whom we want in here. Not become a free guesthouse for every disgruntled violent person and other failures to come here and spread their vile ideologies.
Students from countries like India, China and others come in on student visas (temporary visas) with no plans of going back. They cling on with the hope of getting a green card and then citizenship using every trick in the book.
Will Trump himself do it when he becomes President? Stop Illegal Immigration. Throw out Illegal Immigrants. Heavily restrict legal immigration (work visas) and make it case-by-case with high barriers. Plug the loopholes and scams in this process and there are many.
