I know this isn't breaking news.

First time a Republican has won Webb since 1912.

Webb County is >95% Latino (I hate that word)

Let that sink in. This is a monumental feat.

We have all been told it is only a matter of time before Texas turns blue because of the shrinking percentage of whites. That is a lie.

There are many theories as to why this is true, but I think its because Hispanics identify as American first and don't play identity politics the way blacks do.

The dem party simply got too fruity. Way too depraved and perverted. It's troubling to most normal people, especially Christian families. And working class and middle income people who aren't liberal zealots have ZERO patience for it when they are paycheck to paycheck and struggling to pay bills.

Maybe the biggest unforced political error or miscalculation in the history of the country?

Easily could have won by hugging the middle of the dem road but instead they were running over mailboxes and road signs going in and out of the ditch with the hitler, trans boys in girls sports, and garbage comments.

He won Starr County as well which is the most Hispanic county in the US. The momentum shift is going to be nearly impossible to stop for the Democrats now in South Texas, the next step will be like it was in other Rural areas where the local officials started to flip from Dem to Rep.

The Hispanic population is hard working, entrepreneurial, and socially conservative as a general rule. Another huge mistake you rarely hear about for the Dems is going so hard in with BLM they made it very clear they care more about black people than Hispanics in their hierarchy. Hispanics are just another "Brown" people to them. The Latinx thing was further insult.

GOP just needs to keep reaching out and delivering and those counties will become Dark Red, then the numbers are insurmountable for the Democrats for the next few decades. Republicans had a path by losing a majority of the Hispanic vote but Democrats do not. I don't know how the Dems can reverse that trend.

I was going to say it but the poster above already said it.

Look at Starr County.

Republicans even picked up a state senate seat that was held by a Democrat in South Texas. Republicans now have a near supermajority in the Texas State Senate.

46 percent of all Latino voters nationwide voted Trump/Republican. This is a 14 point shift from the 32 percent of all Latino voters nationwide that voted Trump/Republican in 2020. The shift in Latino votes was huge for Trump/Republicans. Because of this shift Texas voted more Republican than Alaska and Iowa, and only a few points less Republican than Kansas. New York, Illinois, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Colorado voted less Democrat than Texas voted Republican in 2024. Latino voters were the second largest voting group nationwide in 2024 behind only White voters.

The Latino Republican shift is making Texas solid red. In 2024, Texas was more solid red than famous Democrat states like New York and Illinois were blue.

I think this is true. I think those who switched votes for President this time did it far more as a message to the Dems that they didn't think they were getting the job done for them and were willing to give a Trump the benefit of the doubt to do better. This is good for now because it got us back in the WH,....however, those same people will easily change their vote in 4 years if nothing has changed. We might start seeing more of this rather than people always voting straight party. I mean good grief, look at AOC's district that voted for Trump and put her back in office.

Yep. Once the party became a freak show, it turned people off. If Trump does a good job, Texas and Florida will be red forever.

I agree for the most part, but AOC only out performed Trump by about 4 percentage points, that isn't uncommon for an incumbent congressman.

Webb and Starr counties are border counties. The voters saw firsthand the overflow of illegals coming into their communities while the democrats in D.C. did nothing to stop it. That was the #1 reason they voted for Trump, not abortion, trans-issues, not gay rights, not even inflation, although that was important.

Absolutely it was the open border, and remember a whole shltload of the "migrants" weren't Mexicans.

Also, I can't help but believe, as a group they woke up one morning and said, "You know what, we don't hate this country that has given us so much freedom and opportunity, so why in the hell would we vote for Democrats?!?"

Like the rest of us, they are tired of being looked at as second-rate citizens and WE are paying the damn bills.

There better be 1 Republican in the primary vs Phelan in 2026. The 3 candidate primary allowed for him to make the runoff as the #2 place finisher.

If I was Dems, while yes, I'd be concerned about the Rio Grande Valley going as red as it did, I'd be even more concerned about Miami-Dade county in Florida going as red as it did. Both Trump and the republican senator easily won. Dems are losing the latino vote and I don't think they have any clue how to get it back.

While Trump won all the deep STX counties, the most populated ones voted for Alred over Cruz. There were more Republican wins at the local level than in the past, but nothing earth shattering.

The Latin culture does not respect the rule of law, what us bred into the culture is respecting authority. To the Hispanic/Mexican American/Latino/Chicanos, or whatever you wanna call it, populace of deep STX Trump represents authority and protection. That is why he was supported.

Without a doubt the Dems are embracing radical left crap and what that does is blur authority. If the Dems ever go more centrist or have a candidate with a strong persona don't think that these areas wouldn't vote Dem in the future.

The good news is that the Dems currently are a woke trainwreck.
