Judge is Republican appointed and has the reputation of being experienced, calm, respected for judicial demeanor and acumen. The defense choosing to go with a bench trial shows they respect the judge's ability to be impartial despite the fact the judge himself is the son of a murder victim.

Several years ago he oversaw the trial of a self-representing cop killer who brought up his dad's murder at trial and managed to keep his cool.

And despite wearing gloves, he managed to leave his thumbprint on Riley's phone.

I mean it is circumstantial, but most cases are made on circumstantial evidence.

Fingerprints and DNA are circumstantial. The defense is trying to muddy the water on the fingerprint, but scratches on his body and his DNA under her fingernails will be tough to overcome.

Admittedly, I haven't been following the trial, but if it's true a glove ripped and exposed his thumb, which is why a print exists on her phone, why in the hell would you so casually mention such herein?

Do you know with certainty the glove wasn't ripped; are you aware of the existence of other direct exculpatory evidence, or, where you just impulsive to mention the apparent contradiction of a print despite the presence of gloves so as to cast doubt on his guilt?

Lastly, it's not unheard of for someone to inadvertently remove a glove in order to utilize a phone, such as during winter time while wearing mittens/ gloves; do you agree such a mindless activity, especially for an 'inexperienced' murderer that's caught up in the act of assaulting & murdering another human being, is a plausible explanation for a thumb print in the absence of a rip/ tear to the glove? Further, do you know of the exact moment when he allegedly touched her phone; was the print made when he was no longer wearing gloves? And how would the apparent contradiction that you mentioned outweigh the other overwhelming evidence?

Accordingly, IF a glove wasn't ripped, IMHO this apparent contradiction isn't the gotcha the defense should rely upon for the aforesaid reasons, nor is sufficient by itself to infer that LEOs 'planted' a thumb print.

If I were his counsel, I couldn't live with myself if I did not advocate for strict adherence to his constitutional right not to be convicted unless guilt is legally proven beyond a reasonable doubt. What else would you have his lawyer do? Say, "judge, my client I believe is guilty therefore I quit!"

Defense attorneys and democrats are the most vile people on earth. No soul.

If he's convicted (which he probably will be), the minimum sentence is life with parole eligibility after thirty years, but the prosecutor said they'll be asking for life without parole.

Not sure what you're going for here but the prosecution showed the holes in the gloves. They were black, so maybe he didn't notice that there was blood on the now ungloved parts of his fingers.
