Vivek is a smart high achieving person. Yes, he has no political experience. I am sure he was hoping to snag a better department to run and lead independently. Now he has to deal with crazy and mercurial Elon Musk whose attention span is questionable and he loves the attention.

Vivek essentially has no power to get anything done, just will be making recommendations.

Vivek won't even have an office or a building, would he be "working from home"?

At any rate, I hope he does a good job and pleases Trump who may them move him into something more powerful.

Trump gave him an opportunity to be Senator in OH and chose the DOGE...I'm sure the guy knows what he walked into and got what he wanted

It sounds like Ramaswamy wanted to be involved with the DOGE.

I think this is actually where he wants to be. He's very knowledgable about this area and talks about it in great detail.

Listen to him talk about it less than a week ago on Tucker (starts at the 27 min mark)

Definitely. He was the first I heard talk about avoiding the difficulty in firing government workers by just eliminating positions.

Mercurial? Maybe sometimes. Crazy? Hardly. The guy is a genius.

Vivek will have plenty of power. His recommendations will carry tons of weight in the direction and actions of this administration.

My guess is he will work from wherever it makes the most sense. I would bet he gets an office somewhere in Washington for whenever he comes into town.

This will be an extremely influential and powerful position. Don't underestimate the weight these guys decisions will have on policy.

Because Vivek is shy and retiring and has no use for attention himself.

Having a lens into the entire government and interacting with literally every agency's leadership to review their budgets seems like an amazing opportunity whether pursuing a future in government or in the private sector, to say nothing of the opportunity to work alongside the greatest entrepreneur of our time.

When you take a government job, you sell so there is no conflict of interest. Because of that, the government does NOT charge capital gains tax. Or it is at much reduced rate.

That's why all the Wall Street tycoons take that government job before retirement.

I just read this. Highly recommend.

Quote:

New York Times bestselling author, accomplished entrepreneur, and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has a plan to save America, and it begins with telling the truth.

Today's conservatives know what they're against. They're anti-woke, anti-globalist, anti-big government. But what exactly do they stand for? The fact that this is a hard question to answer is a damning indictment of the modern Republican Party which has abjectly failed to articulate an affirmative alternative to the left's vision. Ramaswamy calls on the conservative movement to articulate exactly what it stands for, or else warns of another illusory "red wave" in 2024.

Vivek Ramaswamy is not a politician. He is a first generation American, the founder of several successful companies, and a bestselling author. Ramaswamy decided he needed to step in the arena to stop the lies and tell the American people the truth. That's why he ran for president and became a leading voice in the America First movement.

In Truths: The Future of America First, Ramaswamy shows exactly how honesty about the most important issues will get our country back on track. The America First movement emphasizes the issues that bring us together, not what divides us. It asks that we put our country over politics, merit over grievance, and truth over lies. Ramaswamy tells us the truth about our political system, and the people who control it, and exhorts us to exercise our right to self-governance again.

America First is bigger than any man or woman. It's a movement. In Truths, Vivek Ramaswamy explains exactly why that movement needs to succeed now more than ever. Our country's future depends on it.

I'm not sure a guy like Vivek would turn down an opportunity to work with a generational science and technology pioneer that happens to be the wealthiest person in the world at the behest of a president he himself believes is the best president of Viveks lifetime.

This is not a bad job if DOGE actually accomplishes its mission. It is high risk. This could either be history making or it could go down in flames. I liken this to Bush 43 attempt at Social Security reform. That attempt had the potential at history making, but it ended up going down in flames because the congressional GOP had no interest in making history(which they would have done, most intellectually honest economists now report that the proposed change would have been very good for the American government, economy, and worker).

Vivek, like Elon, comes across as someone that likes high risk ventures.

The safe pick for Vivek would have been to try and get the OH Senate seat.

Will be interesting to see how it turns out for him and us as American taxpayers.

I think Vivek ann Elon are just going to be free consultants that work together to cut inefficiencies. For either of them to take a government salary would cost them a lot more than it is worth.

Vivek is awesome. Really hope Trump puts him to good use because he would have been an awesome Senator for a state that seems to have trouble getting good ones elected.

He definitely has a huge future in politics if he wanted it. He has that talent to reach a lot of ears like Trump

The "GOP version of Obama" would be a deceptively hardcore conservative patriot who adheres to and promotes traditional values and does NOT want to fundamentally transform the United States.

Needless to say, I'm 100% on board with both he and Musk.

I can't imagine the change being permanent without officially whacking 2-3 agencies like the DOE, Commerce Department, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, ATF, etc..

If certain agencies aren't completely removed our world government lovers will just staff as many as possible once they're back in power. Although, once the full force of dollars hitting the American economy instead of the US government may be a big enough selling point.

You think the guy that spent all of that time on Trump/s campaign trail and out with Charlie Kirk educating college students on why they should vote for Trump and the evils of what the U.S. would look like under Kamala is about to do a complete 180 and be a turncoat? I truly think this is the most important task Trump is taking on, at the moment.

All Presidents have to deal with policy issues....but this is something outside the norm. People have been calling for wasteful government spending to end for DECADES. But the fed never gets reduced. They're literally in charge of that now.

I hope they make incredible progress in the next 2-4 years, and we make actual progress towards a balanced budget.

Vivek is not dumb. He's playing the long game. Runs against Trump while praising everything about Trump (basically campaigned for him while the primary was still going on). He's most certainly making another POTUS run down the road. Just building the foundation now.
