There have been no repercussions for the Russia hoax. Only one person, Kevin Clinesmith, was found guilty of wrong doing. He knowingly lied by changing an email, in order to get an unconstitutional FISA warrant against Trump. He got a slap on wrist, and even kept his law license, bc he was obviously just following orders.

I know Trump wants to focus on the country and MAGA, but exposing and holding FBI/CIA brass accountable, IS the best thing he could do for the country.

The landscape has changed in recent years, such that the mainstream media can't totally gaslight the public into thinking Trump is "prosecuting poltical opponents" or "attacking sacred institutions". There are simply too many decentralized info platforms and podcasters that cumulatively accept Trump was framed in a treasonous way. The REAL coup attempt, not some capital riot with police chaperones.



Start with these guys. Put the pressure on those who were below them. Get Jim Jordan and a dream team of whistleblowers to really blow it all open. Get the DOJ to file charges. Not exposing and prosecuting these folks to "focus on the country" or because they "are already gone and disgraced", is wrong. The toothless Horowitz report and other findings were worthless. Cuff and jail those guilty of treason, whichever side of the aisle they are on.

Having been targeted by the FBI himself, Gaetz would likely be best one to execute on this. However, I think it's unlikely he gets the confirmed. Mainly bc not enough folks with backbone in congress, but also bc the FBI spied on him. I'm sure there is some compromising or planted content that was "found" on his devices. Mcarthey is a sworn enemy and will do everything he can to get his ole friends to keep Gaetz out.

What does the PB story have to do with the federal government holding its own accountable?

Honest question....did he expose something new, is he a liability in some way?

I know many citizens have suffered consequences and legal actions for speaking out. But that should only strengthen the resolve of the new DOJ to hold the perpetrators accountable. Even if that includes the ruthless DC Mob boss HRC.

The only arguement against not going after the framers of the Russia coup attempt, is the Schumer argument. That its unwise to hold the FBI/CIA accountable because "they have 6 ways from Sunday to get back at you".

Congress can adjourn so that the president can make an appointment without having to go through a confirmation. Traditionally both houses have to do so, but in theory even if only the house does the president can resolve the issue himself constitutionally. In any case, Thune has said he will support recess appointments as necessary by Trump, so I don't think there will be any issues.

Prosecutions for actual legal violations would be nice but more than that, I want the corruption fully exposed and names and deeds made public and then current I've and preventive actions taken to stop it in the future.

I know leftists have no shame when acting in support of their ideological beliefs so the deterrence effect will be limited BUT if it costs them political and financial support because their corruption or deception is exposed then that helps.

Came here to say something similar. Prosecutions are needed, but they don't attack the root of the problem. The far bigger issue is HOW did our govt become so corrupt and unaccountable? What is enabling this? The boldness of some of their actions proves they don't fear repercussions. What or who is protecting them and how? Most importantly, how do we make sure it doesn't happen again? Trump could replace them all with the best team imaginable and then four years later it could all be undone and it will be back to business as usual. Get the worst ones that are obvious and provable. Going too hard on retribution could backfire and derail any efforts to make meaningful changes.

I disagree a bit on the deterrence factor. Make examples of people and they'll at least think twice. The worst part of it all is that average citizens often get the book thrown at them for far less serious offenses while these unelected bureaucrats get nothing or a slap on the wrist for major crimes. I would support a law that says something like public officials get mandatory double punishment if the crime was committed while acting as a public official.

What they did was not a political game, it was the literal definition of insurrection and treason.

Traitors used to be shot.
