Looks like lots of libs are migrating over there, Elon should buy it just to mess with them.

But seriously when Elon bought Twitter, he should acquired the BlueSky project along with it. I doubt it survives and it'll go the way of Mastodon and Post.

It's another Twitter-like app. Originally a Twitter project of Jack Dorsey to make Twitter decentralized, but it spun off to be a standalone company after Musk bought Twitter.

What was the Facebook like site that launched a few years back? We all signed up, but it pretty quickly died...

I think they have like 15 million or so users, could be way fewer, versus X with a little over 600 million and expected to add approx 75million per year over next 4 years. So in summary, they are a nobody, with zero reach and zero influence. Not worth Elons time unless they pay him to take ownership of it.

Threads, Mastodon, Parler, Post, AOL, MySpace, vine (though alive on TA), Google+, periscope, AskJeeves. The list goes on and on.

Even when backed by big tech as many of those were, this thing is doomed. Safe Spaces without dissent won't attract enough to compete.

Twitter/X's terms of service updated with a clause about using Tarrant County courts for legal issues.

Liberals crave attention. In the end, they'll be right back on Twitter when no one sees their blue sky posts.

Libs can't survive on a platform without Conservatives because there won't be anyone to feed their constant hunger for outrage.

This.

But hey, if all the weirdos wanna go over there, I'm OK with it. That way they can shave their heads, get blue, tattoos, quit having sex, screaming into social media videos and have a good discussion about it day after day.

This is true. If they don't have people to yell and scream at and everybody thinks the same, they won't have any fun.

I don't want X to be an echo chamber. Leftists are still welcomed. But they HATE being questioned or having their arguments torn to shreds. So they leave and show their cowardice.

On a long enough timeline, and free speech platform, will inevitably move rightward.

Only curation, shadowbanning, delisting, and other tactics by the old Twitter regime and the other big tech platforms caused the leftward dominance on social media. Elon has pointed out that so many accounts critical of him and even ones that insult him are still present and not curated or altered or shadowbanned in any way. But the Left wants an echo chamber --- not a place of discussion. They are more concerned with their feels than the truth.

These things never work for several reasons.

1. There are lots of liberal safe spaces out there to go to already like Reddit or Insta or Facebook and Dem Underground.
2. The rules they put in place inevitably make the site boring and just an echo chamber.
3. The people who go there want attention and to virtue signal. Inevitably that means you have to either A)Do even crazier stuff or B)Tear things down because it doesn't meet whatever standard you dream up.
4. After a while things play out and they realize that they are just sitting in a little room on a boat that is sinking and no one cares. Screaming in a room with a few other people gets old and people stop going, slowly at first and then suddenly.
5. Eventually whomever is behind the site realizes they are losing a ton of money and it's not getting better so they go out of business.
6. Not long after someone else comes up with the same idea and decides "This time it will work" like all good socialists.
"The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help."
