Let's be honest, the moment we find aliens, we're probably going to fight them. Especially if they have oil on their home planet.

Philosophically, do they have souls? would human rights apply to nonhuman sapients?

Elon swears there isn't 'outer space aliens', & I've seen theories that support that position; instead, the current prevailing theory being offered is these 'beings' are from earth itself (subterranean &/or from the oceans' depths). Accordingly, I've seen some genuine "tin foil hat conspiracies" concerning where proof of such can be found; for example, an intriguing deep dive into some of the theories surrounds the mysteriousness of Antarctica. Nevertheless, if revealed & proven true, I don't see how such disproves Christianity &/OR OTHER RELIGIONS (why is it always Christianity that's pegged as being the religion that's vulnerable???).
I guess me saying I'm a Christian in the op indicated I was insinuating it was vulnerable. Didn't really mean it that way.

It is a certainty that there is intelligent life elsewhere. Likely some that have been here as well

The likelihood that they're here now during our time is very small.

More likely that the govt has developed or reverse engineered tech they don't want anyone to know about which could disrupt or crash the economy.

Fascinating. My big question is why all the secrecy? And the answer I keep coming back to is that if intelligent life is confirmed as "real", I believe many world religions will start to crumble. I'm a Christian and it certainly brings up a lot of questions.

The real question you should be asking is wjat would happen if we discovered aliens believe in God too?

Depends on if it's "our" God or not.

I think the story of God and creation is real I just think it's bigger than Earth. IMO it's naive to think God created all of this and decided life only needed to exist on one planet.
In my younger days I always thought we were alone in the universe. As I have aged and matured both in life and in my Christian faith, I think it is very arrogant to think that God created a universe beyond anything we can comprehend and we are the only life in it...

Same here. The world is clearly older than we thought and the Bible says, and the universe is far larger than anything we can possibly comprehend. I think the world/universe resets itself on occasion or you can call it God. After that happens, God uses things to relay his message back to his creations until they stray so far away that another reset is necessary. I think it would only truly rock the shallow Christian's.

Like someone else said, it is statistically impossible that in all of the vast universe, with an unknown number of galaxies, that God saw fit to put life on one tiny planet in a galaxy that (per a famous photograph) lies near the edge of the universe while leaving everything else devoid of life. I'm not going to say that they have been having wars, or been out trekking around, or have visited Earth and abducted people, but I am confident enough in my belief that we are not alone in this universe.

That's not how statistics work. We have far too simplistic of an understanding about what is necessary for life to form at all and how common that is much less how likely it is that intelligent life capable of space travel and communication across that stars would be.

I actually believe the opposite

Through faith, you easily could say your God(s) created the extraterrestrial life.

IMO if anything it would ultimately bring in more religions

They do:

Mark 5:2-10
And when He had come out of the boat, immediately there met Him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, 3 who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no one could bind him, not even with chains, 4 because he had often been bound with shackles and chains. And the chains had been pulled apart by him, and the shackles broken in pieces; neither could anyone tame him. 5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains and in the tombs, crying out and cutting himself with stones.

6 When he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshiped Him. 7 And he cried out with a loud voice and said, "What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I implore You by God that You do not torment me."

8 For He said to him, "Come out of the man, unclean spirit!" 9 Then He asked him, "What is your name?"

And he answered, saying, "My name is Legion; for we are many." 10 Also he begged Him earnestly that He would not send them out of the country.
NKJV

and

James 2:18-20
But someone will say, "You have faith, and I have works." Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. 19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe and tremble!
NKJV

Just more dreamers, even 30yo + aliens can participate in the DACA program along with the illegal Venezuelans, Mexicans , Hondurans,.

We can even provide the legion of aliens ACA healthcare, that might be interesting.

You want to talk statistical impossibility? Do you know what the probabilities are of Earth maintaining an inhabitable atmosphere? Have you looked into that?

Now calculate the probability of there being more than one of those.

That's how I know.

Dan rather should take the lead on this... Will make the Killian documents look legit. The BOOM! ufo's are real 'document' is research level of a middle school science fair. However, without a accompanying poster will not place but still gets a trophy.

Seriously ai is available for writing a scary ass summary, and actually be believable too. The author doubled down hard on clever. AND pompous too; the 'document' closes with "Be not afraid"

They seem attracted to nuclear facilities and military equipment which emit certain types of radiation. Something civilians aren't typically near. Swarms of UFOs have been spotted over US military bases since the 1950s. It seems to be related to nuclear technology. I met a retired Air Force Major who told me he was on base in Malmstrom in Montana in the late 60s when it was swarmed by at least a dozen UFOs. This is an ICBM base.

There are way more military observations and videos that have not been released to the public, including very close encounters with military aircraft captured in high quality footage. What's been released to the public is intentionally blurry and low quality. They have much better footage. When certain sensors are pointed at them they tend to start moving fast and/or erratically as if they don't want to be observed. They don't want to be seen.

What seems to be happening now is a slow rollout to gradually get people used to the idea of other entities being out there.

This could also be a giant psy-op to cover for advanced tech developments we don't want our enemies to know about.

Considering the sheer vastness of just the observable universe, plus the overall age of the universe, the probability of there being or having been more than one isn't terribly inconceivable.

Now, the statistical probability of a species being able to reach a sufficient threshold of technological development such that they could achieve travel over interstellar distances, without first suffering either environmental or self inflicted mass extinction… that's a different story.

Let's just say intelligent life exists outside of earth

How does their existence fit into the metanarrative of Christian scripture? i.e. God's redemptive plan for salvation through Jesus Christ?

The more I watch all this the more I think this is some sort of CIA Psyop.

And considering the things they have come clean on in the past few decades it might be more accurate to say a continuing Psyop. Im not going to go dig it up but there are several cases of the CIA admitting to faking alien related activity. The most bizarre one is the Air Force security contractor. They convinced him that the signals he had found were of alien origin. Why? Because it was the 80s and they were just convinced he was a soviet agent. They went as far as flying the guy in a helicopter to look at "bases" they had constructed on the ground to look alien. The literally drove the guy insane and he killed himself. They apologized a decade or so later and paid the family.

So color me skeptical that they have stopped using the idea.

I am one of the few who know the actual truth about space aliens and am not able to divulge it at the moment. But I will provide a bit of a teaser. something to help convince you that I have the true answer. I want to let you know that the moon actually is made of green cheese but there is a coating of dust and dirt and stuff on top that has accumulated over the years, what with nobody cleaning it up. You have to dig down a bit to get to it. Now ask yourself, why is it that those that walked on the moon didn't take a shovel?

Angels and demons? There are people like Tucker Carlson (I think it is Tucker) who say they think those are what the UFOs are. From a historical standpoint there are all sort of stories of encounters with non-human beings and there are descriptions of what could be considered a UFO in Ezekiel 1.

Quote:

As I looked, behold, a stormy wind came out of the north, and a great cloud, with brightness around it, and fire flashing forth continually, and in the midst of the fire, as it were gleaming metal.[b] 5 And from the midst of it came the likeness of four living creatures...

Quote:

As for the appearance of the wheels and their construction: their appearance was like the gleaming of beryl. And the four had the same likeness, their appearance and construction being as it were a wheel within a wheel. 17 When they went, they went in any of their four directions[e] without turning as they went. 18 And their rims were tall and awesome, and the rims of all four were full of eyes all around. 19 And when the living creatures went, the wheels went beside them; and when the living creatures rose from the earth, the wheels rose.

Sorry I wasn't clear in my post. Should have said "intelligent beings from outer space"

Spiritual beings / "interdimensional" creatures are all over the Scriptures obviously. But that is different from extraterrestrial/alien life we see in media and stories IMO

The only conspiracy going on is the same gaggle of Kean/Fox/Coulthart/Corbell/Taylor, etc. group that runs a mini-industry with this stuff exploiting paranoid delusional people. All the usual suspects were there as always, sitting behind and nodding along. The same Ancient Aliens/Skinwalker Ranch people who always have new books and documentaries and podcasts and speaking tours and so on are the same ones that are making all the claims. And they all tease they "know" stuff" but they can't tell us. But hey, make sure to buy their new book and check out their new documentary on Netflix!

The news from the most recent hearings is that our military has detected physics defying objects on their imaging systems. IR cams, thermal imaging, radar, those types of systems. But military is keeping a lid on it.

A few years ago I went deep down the UFO rabbit hole, going as close to the original source documents as I could (witness interviews, investigative reports and stuff from the event).

I ended up convinced that people have seen things we can't explain in the skies, but that none of these things we see flying around have ever crashed, and humans have never recovered a crash or other material, no one has obtained any physical proof of extraterrestrial existence outside of the sightings of unexplained flying objects.

These people claiming our government has recovered crashes, bodies, knows what the UFOs are… I don't believe it. It seems most of the popular accounts of this sort involve wild deviations from the facts and witness reports at the time of the event, or in some cases are completely fabricated with no corroborating evidence. It's a UFO grift for attention and to sell fiction books and get clicks.
