Fascinating. My big question is why all the secrecy? And the answer I keep coming back to is that if intelligent life is confirmed as "real", I believe many world religions will start to crumble. I'm a Christian and it certainly brings up a lot of questions.

The secrecy is interesting. I do firmly believe though that the existence of aliens definitely wouldn't challenge or wouldn't oppose Christianity

Vatican Astronomer Says Its OK to Believe in ET.

The director of the Vatican observatory said it's possible that intelligent life exists on other planets. And since aliens would be part of God's creation, their existence would not contradict the Catholic faith. In an interview with the Vatican newspaper Rev. Jose Gabriel Funes discussed the Big Bang theory, as well as creation and evolution. The interview was originally published in Italian, but a priest from Holland translated the full interview to English and posted it on his website, FatherRoderick.com:"

Or these aren't spacemen but interdenominational beings set to appear otherworldly (because they are not of our world) and will possess technology to sow seeds of doubt in our Creator.

I have read of cases when a person is being abducted and cries out to Jesus, that the abduction stops. Lots of different fronts the true enemy is fighting us on currently.

The real question you should be asking is wjat would happen if we discovered aliens believe in God too?
The best way to keep evil men from wielding great power is to not create great power in the first place.

At the risk of turning this thread into an R&P discussion (staff please don't move to that forum...I just can't with that forum) if intelligent beings did show up and provided evidence that they created life on this planet or brought humans here from some place else, how do y'all think that would effect views on world religions?

I would keep it a secret too, tbh. At least initially. If there is life and irrefutable proof of it and the US government has it and plans to reveal it, slow dripping it over generations is the best course IMO. Which is likely what we are seeing and living through now. Priming us as a species for the greatest cultural shock we have ever faced, bar none. Even then, yes of course there would be religious rifts and who the hell knows what would happen to the world economy and markets. How could there not be? We go to war if someone threatens an oil supply. Life elsewhere off planet? Presumably intelligent and on a tech level at a minimum equal to us and probably more advanced?

Humanity would freak on a global scale in every way possible. I truly believe that and can't imagine any scenario that would not end up at that spot.

Or there is nothing and we forget about it again until the next election. Who knows. (Spyderman knows for sure)

An alien race with the wherewithal to travel hundreds or thousands of light years to visit us would be mind blowing. They would be god-like.

To be Christian, you really do need to believe in multi-dimensional beings. The idea that a revelation of extra-terrestrial life would cause Christianity to fail is non-sense

I urge everyone to check out this fascinating 51 minute discourse into the connection between the fallen angels in Genesis 6 and the UFO/alien abduction phenomenon today. A LOT of people admit or claim abduction experiences or sleep paralysis. Theologian Chuck Missler, and Annapolis graduate whose secular background is in defense system contracting and information system technology offers a very convincing analysis here:

As a Christian, how can anyone not see/define God as a sort of Alien by our current definition. I mean what exactly is God? A being we can't really comprehend or explain.

I don't think I can ever believe that alien beings from outer space fly here in space ships, spy on us, study us, sometimes crash into mountains; etc...all that stuff.
But I can definitely believe that some people will use that scenario to scare and motivate and devalue humanity.
That's just me.

My aunt is "very" Christian. Not in a bad way, it's just very important to her, more so than the average Christian. About 10 years ago my dad and I were visiting her and while we sat at the table after dinner they got to talking about religion and Jesus specifically. At that time Mrs LOYAL AG and I were binge watching Ancient Aliens and I said, "We've been watching this show that pretty much has me convinced Jesus Christ was a space alien." You'd have thought I hopped up on the table and dropped a deuce in what was left of the gravy. I cracked a smile and she laughed but it definitely made her uncomfortable for a moment.

I think the story of God and creation is real I just think it's bigger than Earth. IMO it's naive to think God created all of this and decided life only needed to exist on one planet.

In my younger days I always thought we were alone in the universe. As I have aged and matured both in life and in my Christian faith, I think it is very arrogant to think that God created a universe beyond anything we can comprehend and we are the only life in it...

There is so much about the universe we simply don't understand. But if there are ET's, they have not threatened us as far as we know. And apparently humans have been observing them from time to time for thousands of years. And all personal accounts indicate they are humanoid. I would therefore assume there is some connection with us.

Elon swears there isn't 'outer space aliens', & I've seen theories that support that position; instead, the current prevailing theory being offered is these 'beings' are from earth itself (subterranean &/or from the oceans' depths). Accordingly, I've seen some genuine "tin foil hat conspiracies" concerning where proof of such can be found; for example, an intriguing deep dive into some of the theories surrounds the mysteriousness of Antarctica. Nevertheless, if revealed & proven true, I don't see how such disproves Christianity &/OR OTHER RELIGIONS (why is it always Christianity that's pegged as being the religion that's vulnerable???).

From a statistical standpoint, it is virtually impossible for us to the only life in the universe. But if Einstein was right and we cannot travel faster than light, life will remain highly isolated forever. Best we could hope for is catching some radio signal that's been traveling for many eons.

There are no freaking space aliens.

And if there were, how would that change what Jesus did for us?

What he did on the cross is the entire message of the Bible.

Green men or not.
