At this point I'd rather send Ted to SCOTUS or get him primaried by a MAGA conservative.
Why in the HELL would anyone want Cruz primaried? Good lord,!
Many MAGA still hate Cruz for 2016.

And that fake list of who is voting for whom just reinforced their hated of him.

How odd!! No mention of Thune here!

Cruz was NEVER voting Thune. The only question was would he back a fellow Texan over his PREVIOUS SUPPORT for Scott!

Sorry Suburban Cowboy, CRUZ IS NOT GETTING PRIMARIED!

Cruz voted Scott last time also, so his vote is no surprise. But if Scott wins? now that could be a sea change in the senate
And a further repudiation of McConnell who apparently assumed he had the right and the ability to name his successor.

How will McConnell react? Kentucky has a Dem Governor but there is some type of arrangement wherein he has agreed to take the state GOP's recommendation for filling a vacant Senate seat. Maybe an agreement but will Beshear actually do it, if McConnell throws a hissy and quits?

That's unforgivable imo.
its unforgiveable that Cruz's name was included on a fake news list of senate votes?

have we really become this sad as a society?

Ted Cruz, with an impeccable record, needs to be primaried because some nobody on X made up a story?

I'm repeating what Michael Berry said on air this morning.

Michael is personal friends with Ted.
I listened to multiple Ted Cruz Podcasts 2 years ago when Cruz was putting his political life at serious risk and pushing Scott against McConnell. He knew that meant he wouldn't get a dime from McConnell for his upcoming re-election because of it and he didn't care. He was out publicly advocating for change when he knew the dangers and repercussions.

Oh, but someone put out a list and started a rumor that made zero sense so clearly he's really a RINO in spite of his record.

Cruz is literally the guy who got Scott to run the first time. If Cruz is a RINO I guess I am too. If you can't see that this was rumors started by people that hate Cruz and are is about the battle for influence you really don't understand the game. Next up will be Rand Paul is really a tax and spend liberal. I mean Cruz has been fighting the RINOs and McConnell and Cornyn literally since Day 1 in the Senate.

I believe he is talking about people within the Trump world that are battling for power and influence. They don't want Cruz to be in the inner circle because it threatens their influence. Best way to do that is to make Cruz look disloyal or a RINO even if it isn't true. Instead we should put all our trust in people that voted for Biden last time but have seen the light over people that have been consistent conservatives for 30 years.

Logic and MAGA don't go together.

Loyalty and fealty to Trump is all that matters to them. By daring to run against Trump in 2016, Cruz will always be seen as the enemy by those who's loyalty is not to conservatism, but to Trump and only Trump.

Your implication was that he had to be pressured to not "Act like a RINO" when it's pretty clear he wasn't ever "Acting like a RINO" or certainly being a RINO. It's just an unwarranted accusation from a guy that has been arguably the most consistent conservative and Swamp fighter in the Senate for the last 15 years but he has always been fighting an uphill battle. Cruz isn't perfect but he's probably taken more political risks for conservative positions than anyone in the Senate, more than Lee or Paul (who never challenged McConnell publicly as the Sr Senator from Kentucky).

I don't think this has anything to do with voters in Texas. This is about the current battle for who will get power and influence with the Trump White House. There are a lot of folks that want to smear folks like Cruz or DeSantis because they see them as a threat to their power and position.

I just want to see everyone of like mind working together to build the best team to get things done. I like really smart conservatives that have a deep understanding of law and process being on that team.

Think about it. He is betraying the popular senior senator from his state, someone he will still have to work with regardless of the outcome, but which could be especially thorny if Cornyn wins.
