Yes, but super successful and smart guys have super egos too. I think a better idea would be to give each 100% responsibility over a single department so he can run it as he likes. I don't think having a company with 2 CEOs is a good idea.

Cutting cost doesn't necessarily mean cutting the budget. So I'll be curious to watch how this plays out and what the feedback loop will be to actually get the budget to reflect the cuts.

Also, how about giving bonuses of some sort to department heads that actually spend LESS than their budget voluntarily? There needs to be a culture of cutting costs and increasing efficiency without having to have DOGE make the cuts for you.

Just like it's almost impossible to get markets to move against the ingrained incentives, governments will always move in the direction of maximizing budgets. That is why any growth of budget/new departments/responsibilities should always and forever be a no-go.

The only way to cut inefficiencies permanently is to eliminate the responsibility government has in that area.

I'll be that guy and point out that little cuts here and there are nice but unless something is done about unfunded mandates none of this will really matter.

Start with that and I'm assuming Trump and him will have a good relationship, which should scare thousands of worthless bureaucrats and their grunts living the good life. I bet Elon and Vivek are big fans as well. Get them all together asap.

Great point someone had including the author/supporter of every single program listed on the Wall of Shame for most outlandish spends. Shine a bright light on the a-holes who use OUR money to stay in office.

NOW is the rare opportunity to clean this thing up and save the country.

My question would be agencies that are codified. Do you just strip them to the bare bones and force people to work what other people do? If you can't get rid of them, can you re-locate them to other places?
