"TRUMP TRANSITION UPDATE: I'm hearing that Trump wants Ken Paxton as USAG but that Sen John Cornyn is promising to block his confirmation. Cornyn reportedly wants Sen Mike Lee out of the Senate and is pushing him for AG instead. Shouldn't Trump get to pick his own team this time?"

3. Mike Lee (US Senator from Utah)

If true, it's not surprising.

Cornyn has been a problem for a while. It's no question the left has tried harder to oust Cruz. No one remembers Mary Jennings Hegar for a reason.

I know but Cornyn controls the Republican Senate Leadership Fund.

He let $400 million go unspent even though senate races such as Michigan, Wisconsin, Nevada, and Arizona were so close and had no resources.

Trump actually won all of those states.

Rogers lost by 0.3%

Hovde lost by 0.9%

Brown lost by 1.3%

Lake lost by 1.5%

If Cornyn/Mitch/Thune were willing to give them some help they might have won.

Republicans could easily have 57 seats right now instead of 53.

Cornyn/Mitch/Thune gave Hogan $30 million in a unwinnable race in Maryland.

Sadly Cornyn/Mitch/Thune are probably going to get to pick the next Senate Majority Leader because they control the Senate Leadership Fund.

I wouldn't put too much stock in this Twitter handle. It often pushes an agenda and I'm not sure it has shown much credibility of sources. Not to mention the OP seems to jump on less than credible stuff on social media at times.

It is payback for Paxton spearheading the SCOTUS lawsuit about the election fraud in 2020.

I think Paxton would be a good pick. He has been as active if not more active than Abbott.

My only hope is that the FBI doesn't have him compromised. I give that a greater than zero chance given his legal troubles.

3. Ron needs to continue to anchor Florida for now hard stop

5. I like Ted for AG too, we can find a replacement for him and due to his unlikeable factors the best place for him for conservative is SCOTUS and he would be amazing at it

6. It's really time for Cornyn to sunset, did I say that already?

Bottomline is that this country is now the canvass and conservatives are the artists. Let's finally get this right.

I think Cornyn wants Trump to nominate Paxton first because it would be a disaster of a confirmation hearing for Paxton. Paxton has been rumored to try to challenge Cornyn in 2026. Paxton taking the fifth or opening himself to perjury charges since he would have to testify under oath. Either Paxton would be confirmed or Cornyn would use his testimony against him in the primary.
