This would be phenomenal! Would streamline the entire Trump agenda and prioritize the things this administration hopes to accomplish.

He's a bright and articulate guy, but he has almost no knowledge of how to get things done in the Senate. He'd need someone pulling his strings the whole time and essentially just be a puppet.

I will say this in general: I hope Trump and Vance figure out a way to use Vance and not have the VP office be the complete waste it usually is.

He's a sitting US senator. I'm sure he knows how the senate works.

That's sounds great. If needs tips, phone Cruz or other skilled Senate members. This recent tendency to think you have to occupy a position to run things a bit seems strange. Minister-without-portfolio approach can solve alot of experience gaps. Make DeSantis such if he is game.

All I care about is getting someone in that position that will help push Trump's agenda through. No more McConnell types like Cornyn or Thune. The old guard republicans need to go.

In how things work, it wouldn't be an advantage. It would just piss people off, people you need on your side for the fight we are about to have over the next 18 months. And it will be a FIGHT!

I'm going to be contrary here. VP, President of the Senate (tie breaker) AND Senate Majority leader is just too much for one person, for starters.

This is the kind of out of the box thinking that advances an agenda. Keep the Democrats and the establishment Republicans on their heels. Change the paradigm and make them respond while you are continually on offense.

Edit - problem is that if you tick off enough Republicans, passing legislation might become difficult to impossible. You would have to get broad Republican support to make it work.

Guven the results we normally get from the senate, this seems like a great thing.

It would limit his effectiveness as VP I think. Majority leader is a full time job if it's done well. We need him as a Trump force multiplier taking on big issues such as immigration reform and taking an axe to regulation and bureaucracy.

He's been in the Senate for all of a year. He's a smart guy but knows very little about how anything gets done in DC. It's a bit naive that you think it's that simple.

Please elaborate. If there is precedent and it is legal, enlighten the board on how this is a dictator move. Libs always use language like dictator, tyranny, racist, etc. with Trump but can never actually provide an example that meets the definition of the word

Agree. Hawg's last post shifted my stance. It is needlessly alienating. Just make sure your pick is not a squish.

I'm not opposed to Rick Scott and it is believed he has the inside track and will likely get Trump's endorsement on it if he endorses someone

A dictator move would be dissolving the senate. Not playing within the rules. Read a book man.

This is my concern as well. If Vance is to be Trump's successor, he needs to be front and center on certain issues and be a strong leader, not phone it in like Kamala did.

I'll admit you're right, but they didn't think of it. It's likely not a serious option so hopefully Rick Scott is the guy.

It sounds great on paper; however, if Vance is Senate Majority Leader, how will he have time to carry out the important day to day VP tasks and accomplish the great things that Pence accomplished as VP?

Definitely Scott over Thune/Cornyn. Are those two really a possibility? They are weak as hell.

Definitely. They are already in leadership and have seniority. About 90% sure one of them becomes Majority Leadr, unfortunately. Years and years ago I donated to Thune just to get Tom Daschle out of office. One of the worst mistakes I made in my donation hisory for a lot of reasons. This just the most recent one.

Actually no, that doesn't mean he knows how the Senate works. You need someone who really, really understands the Rules to be Majority Leader or else Schumer will own them over and over again.

Stuff like this is how Trump failed getting legislation done last time. The best choice by far that would absolutely wreck shop would be Ted Cruz, he would terrify the Dems and the RINOs and if Trump came out forcefully for him it would happen.

Best we can hope for though is Scott who is better than Thune/Cornyn, it's not going to be Vance and he would not do well in that role.
