It's not that your point isn't valid, it's that it's actually a framing-of-the-question which empowers and perpetuates the status quo.

It's the exact same reason Ron Paul couldn't make it out of the presidential primaries. The constant reaction on this board and among lots of Republicans everywhere boiled down to the same: "I agree with so much of what he says, but I don't think he knows how to play the game well enough to be President. He's too weird and different. We need someone who can play the game from the inside."

You're correct that we don't know if Rick Scott can "be effective" enough to deliver the policies we want.
However, we also already know that Cornyn is very effective at defecting from the policies we want.

You can't drain the swamp without being willing to take rebuild the foundation of your house. Otherwise all that happens is we get fed up, lash out, drain the swamp, then the next day go, "Ugh, I don't have the time/energy to get under the house and change out the plumbing and the beams and weatherproof that dry land. You know what I could do? I could just, y'know, fill it up with a LITTLE water just right around the house, just for a little while. But next time we'll totally do this for real. Just not yet.

In order to have change, you must CHANGE.

Change means not doing it the same way. It means getting rid of the bad AND letting go of some of the good the old thing brought you. The Israelites weren't wrong about Egypt having more reliable food/water/shelter than the wilderness. It's human nature to paint your face and raise your sword and cry out "FREEEEEDOM!!!!" then the next day turn to Moses and say, "Why TF did you bring us out here to die? At least in Egypt we had delicious food!"

It's understandable if you're not ready. But it's important to have the integrity and insight to admit to yourself that you don't in fact want to change. You want the pressure-relief idea of change. You want the fantasy of change, but not the actual change. What you have now feels safer, you know how to do it. You say you hate it, but when you look at human history, comfort is ever a more powerful force than oppression.

Exactly. Trump is successful because he doesn't play the game. He rewrites the rules of the game.

Trump needs to use the bully pulpit to push for change.

Corny (sp?) and Thune are pure swamp that have helped dig us into the deep hole we're in.

Having a relatively junior senator might be an advantage. They are less responsible for the trillions in debt and can credibly advocate for change.

If Scott is the most conservative that can realistically win, let's go with him.

I'd rather Congress not pass any bills for 4 years with no Senate majority leader than have Corny entrenched. Trump can do a lot with executive orders and being CIC.

I don't get this groundswell for Rick Scott. Pro-red flag (and signed a gun control law as gov) and supportive of DACA. Signed legislation that allows students who are illegal immigrants to qualify for in-state tuition at Florida colleges and universities.. Showed he wasn't effective on the national stage to build a GOP majority in 2022.
