What's taking Arizona so long?

Once again we have the age old question - is it stupidity or corruption at work here? As of the time of this OP, only Arizona and Nevada are still up in the air.

Arizona doesn't count overnight.

But yes, it's incompetence in both cases. I've heard problems with software, etc...

Need to go back to only in person and only paper. This technology should not make the process take longer or compromise its integrity.

Didn't Arizona say before the fact this would happen, even if all went smoothly?

What is interesting is if Nevada may finish up today --they seemed far along.

Don't think they have called Alaska yet either, but agree with your premise. It is 2024 and we should be able to count votes quickly. No reason it should go into the next day.

The are estimating up to 13 days...absolutely ridiculous and absurd.

Quote:

"This year we do expect that it will take between 10 and 13 days to complete tabulation of all of the ballots that come in, but we ask for the community's patience," Jennifer Liewer, Maricopa County deputy elections director, said during the press conference. "We want to make sure that this is a secure process but we also want to make sure that it is an accurate process."

just a reminder that kari lake NEVER should have run for this senate seat. Like or hate her, she is simply not electable in Arizona.

Kari Lake is losing.

What would be the point in stretching this out if she is already losing, significantly?

That only argues that it genuinely simply takes the Arizona process this long. Not malfeasance but baffling all the same.

As for Lake, the poster that said she may be the Beto of AZ may be right. Needs to try fortunes in another state.

She is not liked here at all. I voted for her because Gallego is dangerous but Mark Lamb was the candidate Trump should have gotten behind.

Still counting in Alaska, didn't know that many people live in Alaska. I know this is a rhetorical question, how hard is it to count votes.

only down 60k with 2.2 million cast so far. only 60% of the ballots tallied so far. 4 of the 5 remaining house seats in AZ are heavy R districts. the 40% of ballots not tallied are election day in-person, so even the Maricopa co ones favor R.

Sherriff Lamb seemed great, but he lost the primary. Why do so many seem so despiteful of Lake to the point it looks like they're going to let Soros open border Gallego win?

Arizona didn't get to become the center of attention for the Presidential race this time. Now they just look stupid.

I think 4 states don't have their **** together enough to count votes in a few hours. Even Michigan and Pennsylvania managed to do it this year.
There needs to be massive electoral reform.
Can that be done from the federal level or is it only the individual state that controls that?
jja79

Me and my friends all voted for Lake but I truly believe if Trump had gotten behind Lamb early on he would have won the primary and be Senator elect today.

That said I don't know which votes are still out and hope she wins.

Can nudge it somewhat but cannot mandate the states do something. But I against the federal government even trying to nudge it because that involves a carrot, i.e. tax payer funds. If anything, I'd rather several federal statutes repealed, such as HAVA. W. passed that in 2002 and it was just a giant giveaway to the states to "improve" their elections. Look how that has worked out.

What's wrong with Lake? And how is Gallego getting votes on a Red ballot?

Another issue is the state was expecting close to 400,000 mail-in ballots to show up on Election Day. Those cannot be processed, much less touched, until polls close. They also have a two-sided, two page ballot this year, so it's going to take twice as long to scan as it normally would.

The governor and mayors of the 3 largest cities are all democrats. I'm somewhat surprised but thrilled at the outcome. Lake wasn't popular, in my opinion, because she comes across as condescending, pompous and just generally unlikeable.

Whether you like her or not we need her in there. At least we know she will not be a squish like Larry Hogan would have been.

Gallego has experience- he's a US rep running for US senate. ..but he voted in lock-step with Pelosi in the house and is all about that radical wide open border.

I think the knock on Lake is lack of experience. She was a newsroom anchor in her career; probably a democrat for long time previously before she saw the light. trying to break into politics. The pravda narrative on her is she's a nutbar loon because after all the shenanigans in maricopa co in the 2022 gubernatorial race, she became an "election denier" (she's probably right though).. but every time I see her speak, she's awesome.

I think Soros and left coast billionaires spending so many millions on Gallego's campaign, which started months before the primary was settled between Lake and Lamb, gave them a huge head start. Then, Mitch with his Senate war chest gave Lake zero support. ...so guess who controls the narrative and why people are programmed to not like Lake?

She was. She won the Governor's race in 2022. I watched all of mini-trials and heard the computer experts tell the court exactly what happened. Even Maricopa's "expert" Ryan Macias indirectly acknowleged he was the architect of changing the ballot definition files...while "working" for then Sec of State Hobbs.

The people that are deniers are the ones denying 2020 was stolen. If Lake is disliked because she's (whatever), fine. But why is she singled out? Go around every member of Congress, House or Senate, and give them all personality tests. My guess is that few, if any, would actually be likable. In truth, most, regardless of party, would probably turn the stomach of the average person who's hardwired to do "what's right."

We have got to get beyond this stupid idea that supposedly weak candidates who win their primary should continue to be **** and pissed on, regardless of whether they are Trump, Oz, Lake, etc. No one seems to do that with people like Cornyn. Or Murkowski. AT LEAST NOT CONSTANTLY DURING THEIR ELECTION. People actually get behind those candidates and vote for them as the better alternative.

*****ing about the primary results, especially if you can't vote in it, is a fools game. If you can't win a primary, you probably can't win the general.
