Yes yes. pravda. Npc. Mitchell McConnell.

Get all the buzz words in there.

Never mind lake has now lost two elections, made a fool of herself after the last one, lost her defamation case in the process and somehow lost this election in the midst of a red wave. She must be really bad to get beat by the, as you described, terrible democrat candidate.

You're right though, I'm sure it's mitch's fault. At least lake and herschel have ample time to figure out their strategies for the next election.

There are really dumb people out there who would equate Kari Lake to Herschel Walker.

She lost one election where the establishment was actively encouraging people not to vote for her, and one where the establishment refused to give her any help financially. Had she received even nominal financial help in either one, she probably would have won. But no, lets call her trash because the real trash refused to help her because she wasn't their preferred lackey.

Republicans need new Senate leadership with basic common sense and a desire to win seats. Spend money where it actually helps and act like we are a team.

Time to start recruiting good primary candidates in states for 2026 and getting them ready to fight for the swing seats - really want to get two more in that cycle including Georgia (Kemp?)

Next class of senate races in two years has a lot more R playing defense rather than R flip opportunities. Trump tailwinds not pulling R across the lines in MI, WI, NV, and AZ is a big fail and all four were extremely close.

Wonder how much airtime and ground game that Hogan money would have bought in those states?

The Associated Press declared President-elect Donald Trump the winner in Arizona on Saturday night after vote updates in Maricopa and other counties added to his overall lead, putting the state out of reach for Vice President Kamala Harris.

At the time the AP called the race at 9:21 p.m. ET, Trump led Harris, 52.6% to 46.4%, a margin of about 185,000 votes. Harris needed to win about seven out of every ten votes of the roughly 443,000 uncounted ballots remaining, a percentage that has steadily grown as additional votes were counted.

Trump has now swept all seven of the hotly contested presidential battlegrounds, winning 312 electoral votes, compared to 226 for Harris. The number needed to clinch the presidency is 270.

It's not a big fail. The reality is that Trump is more popular than the Republican party. I know there has been a segment of the Republican party that keeps blaming losses on Trump, but its often just the opposite - Republicans of all types are just less popular than Trump.

I say that being more of a Desantis guy than a Trump guy, but I don't think Ron would have done as well as Trump ultimately, simply because of Trump's populism.

It means there are people who voted Trump but abstained from voting for the R senate candidate. Why handcuff the guy you're voting for because you want big changes in Washington? He can't do jack **** without both chambers of Congress.

This is incredibly accurate. I work with a bank and they average about 30 vehicles a week getting repossessed since 21.

I wouldn't go as far as to say Trump the person is more popular than the next several top people in the Republican party, but would instead say the middle finger that Trump represents is what is more popular.

Had another younger and more polished politician embraced the middle finger to the establishment and a desire to rewrite the beltway rules rather than navigate them, then they would likely have had a greater turnout than Trump. But it's all a hypothetical either way.

Most people that dig into the news, past the headliners, knew Trump was going to win bigly. No doubt as Kamala was just a blank page.

When it comes to House and Senate races, incumbents are often hard to beat, even in the best year for the opposition party.

The Republicans actually did better than one would expect by flipping the Senate seats in Ohio and especially Pennsylvania. Montana was a foregone conclusion and WV was an open seat.

A better candidate would have won Arizona, regardless of whether he or she got support from Mitch. Lake simply turned off enough voters to ensure she couldn't win. Mark Lamb would have won the election going away, and without any support from Mitch.

As for Nevada, I have no doubt some people wouldn't vote for Brown because of how he looks. Why? Because as others have said, people are stupid. Whether this was the difference or not, can't say.

As for the House, there are so few competitive races anymore due to gerrymandering. Looks like the GOP will pick up a few seats, but it will be impossible for either party to get a huge majority again unless something on the order of the Great Depression happens.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

I heard him on the radio a few weeks before the election. The host announced that he'd called 9 of the past 10 elections correctly (2000 being the one he didn't). Lichtman told him that he maintains that he called them all correctly and that Gore actually won in 2000.

I just laughed because the host (Smerconish) didn't call out his "election denialism".

Surprised he didn't blame that one on the stupid voters in Palm Beach County who couldn't figure out a butterfly ballot.

Indeed they are. Another reason why this is an FEC violation. By putting that in there they claiming they can get recounts. So people who might not be inclined to donate to retire her debt (for which she is personally responsible, BTW) but might be enticed into thinking a recount would reverse the outcome.

They will probably just say that they were going to fund recounts in a couple of throwaway no meaning races somewhere on the map to be technically true.

She conceded. No standing to request a recount. Which is why Gore called W. back election night and took his concession back.

From 2000, I know that you can retract it officially if you get snippy about it.
