I had a hunch that Trump would win in the end but I will say that I am pretty shocked that it happened this fast. I figured it would be at least 3-4 days for a couple of states. CNN is just being obstinate at this point. Wild race all around.

And the way the Democrats are now saying she only had 107 days to prepare! She had four effing years!!
and she had run for potus before, and US senate before that, and state AG before that. She won previously because in deep blue CA it was cool to be ultra progressive and she found out this time in a national election she had to bite her tongue and not really say anything about anything close to how she really feels.

Sam Brown looking better in Nevada. That would have been my least likely to win pick if I had to guess yesterday.

He's taken the lead.

Her popularity went down the more people got to know her.

CNN isn't easily grasping that. VanJ still thinks is anti-colored (his party promoted that whole concept) and other such swill. Another saying they didn't understand why joining the Cheney faction didn't work. (That may have lost them some votes on their side)

Will we get an answer on these senate candidates soon? Brown, Hovde, Rogers? Lake?

Brown won't be for a few days. That race is razor thin and may come down to a few hundred votes.

I think we'll see McCormick called soon.

Rogers and Hovde should make it through but it might get tight once Wayne and Milwaukee counties finish their last ballot dumps.

Lake we won't know until Arizona gets off their ass and starts counting election day ballots. She's running significantly behind Trump there, like 7 points behind.

I know many kind of blow it off, but its actually one of the most encouraging things about the whole thing. For example, CNN just pointed out they still can't call New Jersey at 4am!

That's a good sign for a genuine attempt at some `consensus' building, an admin that actually tries to do it.

Elon taking over twitter ( x) was a major difference maker. Literally all you saw in 2020 on that app was anti republican stuff. That's just one thing of course. The country got tired of being gaslit.

You really have to put things in perspective. Back in 2020, if you said you were anti Vax or a MAGA, you would be cancelled, have literal friends or family judge you/ stop talking to you.

Fast forward to 2024: people might disagree with you, but no one would bat an eye if you said you were for Trump.

That to me says it all. Everyone was SJW 4 years ago. Fast forward to today - people are just over it. Tired of being told they are racist, sexist, Nazi, etc etc. No longer is there any shame ( or repercussions) for saying how you feel.

That's what's the Democratic Party didn't understand or account for. You become so extreme one way - there will be a rebellion, and it will happen with genuine passion and excitement. They completely miscalculated and gaslit way too many people.

I'm glad the rebellion came peacefully, the way it is supposed to in this country.

Because 4 more years of going either farther left might have resulted in pitchforks.

That's another thing:

Dems wanted to win. But I heard a lot of "well whoever wins, wins… we've lived through presidents on both sides and life goes on"

Republicans: they truly felt like if they lost today - the country was over. Morale would be at an all time low and everything that comes it with. They passionately wanted it bc they felt the stakes were at a boiling point.

And you know in 4 years maybe that swaps. Maybe they feel more desperate and the voting shows that. But tonight shows there are so many on the right side of history that said "enough is enough" with a passion the Dems did not expect.

Yeah, turnout told the story today.

If Trump doesn't deliver on inflation and the economy, we could see a lot of the GOP staying home in 2028, especially if Dem's elect someone moderate in the primaries.

Can you imagine Trump beating, I dunno, Martin Heinrich?
