There are exceptions for medical emergencies, but a majority of Texas OB-GYNs say they're afraid of prosecution.

I have talked to a few OBs who are shocked by the politics being played and have continued treating patients exactly the same as before the laws changed. These women were killed by doctors playing politics.

They aren't afraid of prosecution. It's purely political. They're willing to let women die to achieve abortion on demand.

This should be solved by suing for med map. The law clearly allows for emergency procedures. I hate using a jury to yea people a lesson, but this is ridiculous.

Should not surprise anyone that "doctors" willing to murder babies would be willing to let grown women die for the exact same cause.

Leftist doctors making a political statement by violating their oath and intentionally putting patients at risk that clearly lawfully can be treated.

Scum.

Good. if this passes, then I should ALSO be able to sue my primary care physicians for causing me to wait 6 months for procedures.

How do you define a "life of the woman in danger" scenario?

A 99% change the woman will die? How about 90%? How about 80%? 75%, 50%, 25%, or even 1%?

Because there is risk of complication for every pregnancy. You are asking doctors to do the impossible and predict the future.

Before anyone responds to this straw man, is it your position that every pregnancy could be terminated at any time for "life of the mother"?

She went to the doctor 3 times:

  • First time, diagnosed with strep
  • Second time, diagnosed with sepsis, released her (why is my question) and confirmed the baby still had a heartbeat
  • Third time, bleeding, vomiting, organs began to fail and she died.

This does not appear to be because of not being able to get an abortion, she was misdiagnosed and never should have been able to leave the hospital with sepsis, especially being pregnant. I read 3 stories and none of them stated she wanted an abortion, she died when she was pregnant and all the stories confirmed on the second doctors visit the baby still had a heartbeat.

Forgot to add that you can get sepsis from strep left untreated. So there is a good chance she either did not take her medicine or she was under prescribed which doesn't relate to abortion
oh no

if only they had crushed the baby's skull with a pair of forceps and extracted it from the womb when the mother had strep throat, she'd be alive today!

My position is that the government should have no say at any stage. Anything short of this will lead to horrific deaths. No one in the late stage of pregnancy gets an abortion for a bad reason.

I am really struggling with this one.

1. To poster above: nobody ever said she wanted an abortion to my knowledge.

2. I think they are claiming that the OBG should have recommended an abortion when she came in with sepsis ?

Why does anyone trust "doctors"? After so many proved they have no morality with how they handled covid, as a group I treat them worse than lawyers.

I cannot believe the title "doctor" still carries any clout whatsoever.

Yep. There is a doctor who posts on TexAgs who said if it was up to him, non-vaxxed COVID patients would be refused treatment in the ER. Unreal.

If someone gets an abortion in the last stages of pregnancy, 100% of the time it's for a bad reason. Just do a C- section. Why do you need to kill the baby to get it out instead of getting it out alive?

The law is very vague as to what is considered an "emergency" and SCOTX refused to clarify it. Also, Ken Paxton regularly threatens hospitals with fines and doctors with prosecution over this statute.

It's not the doctors at fault, it's the absolutely terrible and medically-uninformed law that was passed.

It's okay to admit that.

If you're going to lump all of us in the same category, then I'm totally ok if you never seen one again. 90% of us are always just trying to do the right thing. You can be pissed about how some doctors handled Covid and what was said, but if you're going to treat me poorly because of what other people did, that says more about you than me.

Also, this patient would have died prior to the most recent changes in abortion laws. She was misdiagnosed. Sending an 18 year old with "septic" vital signs is fine. We do it all the time especially with strep. It's very pyogenic.

You are just obfuscating. The general understanding is that a C-Section is meant to deliver a baby alive from an abnormal birthing situation. An abortion is a process that is intended to 100% result in a dead baby.
