After Trump loses again, is JD Vance the future of the GOP?

JD Vance is a complicated figure. He's young. He was promoted and funded by Thiel. He has reinvented himself numerous times. And he has shown he can pivot on a dime, change his positions and views as it suits him and his pursuit for fame and power. Even his original claim to fame, of being a poor kid, is maybe not all it claims to be, as Rolling Stone reports.

After reading that, I'm pretty convinced that I grew up much more "poor" than JD.

I personally think having him as the figurehead of the GOP is a huge mistake. And will contribute to the further crumbling and failure of the GOP. He intends to be the heir of the MAGA crown. Isolationist, populist, divisive, cultural warrior, election denier.

I know of two people that hate Vance b/c of Peter Thiel.

How the eff do people really know Thiel or really know him enough to hate Vance over it.

Seems like the OP took the bait before he casted it to us.

Hopefully the Republican party can realize that their constant attempts to appeal to the extreme right and the Christian Nationals is not a good direction forward. The face of the party imho needs to move to more of what many of us thought the Republican party actually stood for, fiscally sound policies, strong military and not infringing on rights of others. Haley, Christie, Hutchinson and Burgum would all have been a better choice as VP (even though they don't care for Trump). Any of them will be better choices in 28.

I do not think JD Vance survives this election politically if Trump loses.

Not a Trump fan, but I must admit that strategy worked in '16, almost worked in '20, and may work again in '24.

As far as JD Vance, he was explicitly selected to do what he was told and not get in the way. Just like Kamala.

Did your parents declare bankruptcy numerous times?

Did you have to go live with your grandparents while your only parent was in drug rehab?

I mean if so, I feel for you. Living in financial insecurity is difficult on a child, even if that insecurity is only part of the time while they grew up.

Having "rich" grandparents that got that way off of (checks notes) union salaries and pensions?

Vance might have stretched just a bit, but not any worse than most politicians. I sure don't think he is exaggerating more than Kamala on his upbringing. He didn't lie about working at McDonalds.

As far as him being an isolationist and populist, this is the future of the GOP. The GOP has become the party of the middle class and working class, and of the truly poor that are working their way out of the situation. A leader that is going to take up that "crown" is exactly what this party needs, and JD Vance is an excellent person to do it.

So yes, he is a good pick for the future of the GOP. A very good pick.

What is a "Christian Nationalist", exactly? What defines a Christian Nationalist? I am not familiar with the term, other than as a smear for the deplorable garbage that clings to their guns and their religion. Is that the group of people that you are talking about?

The fact that JD Vance is making the right people squeal on this site shows that he is exactly on the right path for the future of the GOP.

Some hit piece by the Rolling Stone is not going to convince anyone that Patriotic Populism is not the right way forward for the GOP.

The democratic party and the RINOs are starting to realize that MAGA is bigger than Trump, and it scares the crap out of them.

America-hating communists have decided to equate being patriotic and loving your country as "nationalist" just like the Fascist parties of Mussolini and Hitler in the 1930s in Europe. The progressive left wing is also, obviously, extremely anti-Christian, as if Christianity the cause of all problems. The boogey man term of Christian Nationalist is supposed to be some sort of scary threat to our democracy or something.

You are extremely uninformed.

Trump has the political ideology of 90s Bill Clinton.

Trump is a political moderate.

Kamala and the Democrats have the policies of Marxist Julius Malema.

The modern Democrat Party has shifted Far Left on every issue from illegal immigration to crime to fiscal policy to taxpayer funded sex change operations for transgender convicted felons in prison.

So glad the RINO neocon garbage is gone from the GOP both at the national level and in Texas with 24 RINOs losing in the 2024 primaries.

The neocons are responsible for over a million innocent people killed in Iraq and they have now teamed up with Kamala and the Democrats. See Dick Cheney, Liz Cheney, and everybody else from the Bush admin who was responsible for the Iraq War.

I can't wait for Demon Spawn to run for office.

"I had to do my own laundry starting at nine."
"Only got 5 dollars for cleaning the cat box."
"Was told to make my own meal, involving protein, carb, veggie, and fruit at 10 if I didn't like what was being served."
"Woke me up early even if I stayed up later."

I would equate the term Christian Nationalist as the GOP equivalent of a description of the left side of the Democratic party, which are all Cultural Marxists.

Cultural Marxists is a very accurate term for the far left, the people in the party that want to limit the access of the middle and working class to things like gasoline, airports, upward mobility, meritocracy, beef, and American Excetualism.

I would challenge every person on this site to challenge the term Christian Nationalist every time it is mentioned. Make the poster define what they are talking about from a policy perspective, and don't engage with them until they do.

It is just a smear campaign, and a nicer way to describe the "deplorable garbage that clings to their guns and their religion".

Will his mom ever declare bankruptcy and wind up in Rehab, and force demonspawn to go live with his grandparents?

I really hope not. Best of luck on your taco stand. That type of lifestyle is exactly what the demonspawn will be fighting for when he gets elected, which he probably will with his future Texags support.

I have never understood the whole "I grew up poor" as a badge of honor thing. I think that's only a thing that poor people say or politicians say to appeal to poor people.
It's pretty simple really - somebody that grew up poor and who has become successful is the definition and an embodiment of everything American - you weren't born into money with a silver spoon, you had to work for what you have, and your success has come from your work ethic, ability to perform, etc.

I would rather have somebody in my organization that grew up with little to nothing but is now successful, because it proves they can be successful. I'd rather have somebody that grew up rich and is still rich because it shows they haven't squandered what they have been gifted with and can maintain at least their status.

What I don't want is somebody that started off rich and isn't rich anymore, or somebody that started off poor and is still poor. Both of those indicate a person that is incapable of making good decisions or lacking the internal fortitude necessary to become successful.

It's also a mechanism in which can be used to identify with somebody. No different than saying "I, too, am an Aggie" or "I also grew up in rural Texas" or wherever. You are trying too hard on this, but you knew that already.

They are in the process of doing with terms like "nazi" and "nationalist" and "populist" the same thing they managed to do during covid with the definition of vaccine - and that is change it to something it is not, because those terms as currently and classically defined either match exactly with their current ideology (nazi) or are opposite of their current ideology (nationalist, populist) and they must demonize those words in order to tarnish the very idea that a person should have pride in their country and what their country to be the first and really only concern of the government of that country.

Essentially they are following Goebbel's playbook to a T right in front of our eyes. Project your shortcomings on your enemy, repeat a lie unti it is believed to be truth, demonize your enemy until they are not viewed as humans because then it is far easier to manipulate the populace into believing their extermination is good and patriotic.l

Most of the Rolling Stone article is conflating statements and extrapolation of information. But at the end of the article some facts from JD Vance family members come out.
quote from the Rolling Stone article
  • After publication, a spokesperson for Vance responded with a statement attributed to Vance's aunt Lori Meibers. "J.D. did grow up poor, and any suggestion otherwise is a lie and an insult to our family," she says. As evidence that "life was tough for J.D.," Meibers refers to details of Vance's upbringing that do not appear in his memoir for example that "money got so tight that they even had to give his dog up for adoption." (Vance attributes the loss of his dog, in the book, to an inability to train the animal.) She adds that "when J.D. lived with Mamaw, his room didn't even have heating or air conditioning, and she often relied on J.D. to buy her groceries." Meibers continues: "My mom lived on a fixed income and was poor for the last decade of her life, including when she shouldered the burden of caring for JD, his sister, and his mother as she struggled with addiction. My dad's pension was meant to help a couple make ends meet in retirement it wasn't meant to support a whole family of five."

A spokesperson for Vance adds several other claims of difficult living that do not appear in Hillbilly Elegy, including that Vance's mother was enrolled in the Women, Infants, and Children program when she was pregnant with J.D. and into his early life. (The WIC program supports women at up to 185 percent of poverty until a child turns five.) The spokesperson also asserts that Vance's mother briefly "moved the family into an income-controlled apartment"; that J.D. often attended school "without enough money to pay for lunch"; and that Mamaw eventually received nutrition support from Meals On Wheels.
This was an obvious hatchet job from the miscreants @ Rolling Stone who are obviously biased and can't be trusted.
Among the latter, under pretence of governing they have divided their nations into two classes, wolves and sheep.”
