Texas Republicans lead early turnout by more than a million, early vote data suggests

AUSTIN (Nexstar) Nearly seven million Texans have already voted nearly a third of all registered voters in the state and their voting histories suggest Republicans are turning out much more than Democrats.

As of Monday, 1,894,070 early voters had previously voted in Republican primaries and have no history of voting in Democratic primaries, according to Ryan Data and Research. A total of 1,242,800 early voters had only voted in previous Democratic primaries. That history suggests those voters came into the voting booth with a strong partisan lean, though it cannot definitively predict which candidates they prefer.

Based on the data, analysts believe that Republicans have an early vote lead of about 1.1 million votes.

"If that number sounds large… it is large. That is much more than we've seen in previous elections," Dr. Ross Hunt with the Republican consulting firm Murphy Nasica said. "A lot of this has to do with building up numbers over time… every day that passes, that vote remains net Republican. It was at least 7% net Republican yesterday. The Republicans just continue to add to their lead."

The biggest share of voters, however, are those who have either voted in both parties' primaries or have no primary voting history at all those voters total up to more than 2.3 million.

Republicans make up about 45% of the early vote while Democrats make up about 29% and Independents 26%, Hunt said. He expects the margins to tighten as we get closer to polls closing, but the trends so far are a good sign for Republicans.

Well I get inundated with Cruz text messages that won't stop no matter how often I reply 'Stop'. Its annoying as hell.
You give one time and they won't stop. It actually makes me like his campaign slightly less because its so freakin' annoying.

I feel better the last several days that it is in fact not cannibalizing that much of the election day vote. First off, the numbers for registered Rs versus Ds are much much higher, nationally and selected battleground states. That is a very new and surprising change over past cycles.More indys moving to GOP, lower propensity voters being registered again, and the like.

And those are precisely the voters that public polls don't have on their radar at all. They also still skew their polls based on the wrong skew, too heavy on Dems. And the recall back to 2020 also provides a faulty baseline when weighting their polls.

This is happening because Texas is turning into a swing state.

Do you all remember when George W was winning this state by 20 plus points???? There were hardly any political commercials in Texas in regards to the Presidential or Senate Races.

What will happen over the next 4-16 years will be much more political rallies and political events held in Texas.
You will start to see politicians of both sides staging political events where they are eating at Whataburger, or Taco Cabana

Those commercials for Collin Alredd and Kamala Harris might not be able to sway your vote....but please believe that thousands of Texas are being bombarded with their Name, Image and Likeness with pleas to vote for them.

In the last election Republicans Abbott, Patrick, Paxton, all Texas Supreme Court Justices who were running, all Texas Court of Criminal Appeals judges who were running, Comptroller Hegar, Commissioner Buckingham, Commissioner Miller, and Commissioner Christian all won their races by 11 to 16 points.

Democrats got destroyed in the last election in Texas (2022).

Also Republicans eliminated 24 RINOs in the 2024 Texas House Republican primaries and replaced them with grassroots constitutional conservative Republicans.

There definitely were a lot more yard signs and stickers for Beto. White chicks loved his Whataburger spicy ketchup logo.

You can get email updates from Derek Ryan if you get on his mailing list at:
https://www.ryandata.com/

During elections, he'll send you an almost daily email of the % of voters with different primary voting histories as well as age and gender breakdowns. He also compiles a list for all the counties. The smaller counties are outperforming the

You get an analysis of other trends as well such as:
Quote:

Urban / Suburban / Rural

The current share of vote is as follows:
  • Top Five Largest Counties: 40%
  • Next 20 Largest Counties: 35%
  • Remaining 229 Counties: 25%
The share for the five largest counties is down from previous cycles. In the past three presidential elections, these counties accounted for 42-43% of all votes cast in the election.

How is it here in Texas and nationwide that there is any knowledge of
how many Republicans vs Democrats have cast their vote.
In TX, the choice of straight party vote was taken away.
In the primaries, I am asked which party I want to vote for.
In the general, I was not asked.

That's probably a good guess for the majority, but it won't encompass everyone who voted R in the primary and then voted in the general. A few could have just voted for an independent conservative, for whatever reason.
