Just finished this. Came away really impressed with both JD and JR. Always been a fan of JR, mostly from UFC stuff or old sitcom, just never listened to any of his podcast until last week. I think ALL politicians, on either side, should be required to sit down and do long form, free flowing convo like this, on a regular basis, or be thrown out of politics. You get to understand a person much more over 3 hours than you will in a lifetime of news clips and soundbites which is basically all we are fed by MSM anymore.

JD is so weird that I'd love to have a beer with him. Haha. What a complement to Trump. They're awesome in different ways. You can hear Vance's admiration for Trump, especially his humor and energy.

funny thing that Jeff Bezos just this week said that traditional media like the Washington Post cannot fall victim to the podcast format. Something about uninformed.

I liked this interview better than Trumps, not that I didn't love Trumps, but the Vance interview covered so many topics.

Was apprehensive and unsure when JDV was tapped for the #2 spot.

He's absolutely phenomenal.

My favorite point: The left is forcing censorship because, once upon a time, the Media could get consensus very easily, and it would wipe out public trust of something. The MSM doesn't have that power anymore, because they don't have a strangle on information like they did in the 1980's. So, the Left is trying to regain that power of information consensus from the top down through census and gaslighting about "misinformation". However, the net result is that the MSM loses even more power, as public trust in the media as an institution is eroded through this top-down approach.

Some of the best stuff:

1) The censorship by the MSM and big tech is a huge threat to democracy, and the lack of people saying this is scary.
2) The only thing that is more scary is the discussion of giving the government the power to regulate "misinformation".
3) Trump absolutely could have prosecuted Hillary, but didn't, because Trump thought that would be bad for the country.
4) Sharia law in this country is not out of the question.
5) Ruth Bader Ginsberg would have voted with the majority in Dobbs (overturning Roe v. Wade) because she hated how much RvW violated the separation of powers.
6) It's funny that leftists now vote against traditionally leftist policies because the GOP has adopted them. For example, some things Leftists believe that were absolutely GOP positions in the past:
6a) Big pharma must be trusted
6b) FDA doesn't need to be regulating the poisons in our food.
6c) Highly processed foods are good (as long as they are vegan)
6d) Censorship is ok
Basically, the left's most important position is not to empower the GOP an any way, in any form, for any reason.
7) Mentions the vaccines that Fauci financially supported in Africa that were not actually vaccines, but sterilization procedures
8) Live and let live has become GOP policy, much more than leftists
9) One reason the left is afraid of evangelicals is projection. Leftists think that it is imperative to force their worldviews on others. Because of this, they absolutely think that if the GOP comes back into power, all of the things that are extreme GOP positions will be forced upon them. But, the reality is, GOP is now much more libertarian than in the past. But, because of leftists worldview of the role of politics in culture wars, leftists don't trust the GOP when they say that.
10) Donald Trump asked to talk to JD's son when he called JD to ask him to be VP. Totally cool move.
11) Trump asked everyone, including his Mar-al-lago gardener, who he should pick to be VP.
12) JD Vance is trying to win the gay man vote in several ways. He talked about some of his gay friends that are not LGBTQ+ Nazis; he stated that todays populist GOP doesn't care about who you have sex with, as long as you are not flashing your private parts at kids, he's wearing eyeliner, and he admitted that he enjoys baking.
13) /the biggest problem with the killed "border bill" was that it codified catch and release, and codified the wide usage of immigration parole. So, it was really a mass amnesty bill, not a border protection bill.
14) JD says that the real reason for the mass immigration bill was to create a lot of cheap labor, and the best part of Trumps border policy is that it will reduce unemployment of Americans
15) JD admits that the second reason for the mass immigration policy is to generate a lot of new dem voters
16) Regan was amazing, but he screwed up the 1986 Amnesty, and mental health policy.
17) You could change the counting of illegal aliens in the census for congressional representation with legislation.
18) Rogan states that objection to voter ID is only about making it easier to cheat
19) JD says that the same amount of blacks support voter ID as whites, and any objections to voter ID as being racist is actually a very racist argument, because you are calling black people stupid
20) JD talks about the litigation of the Harris administration against Virginia to keep illegal aliens on the voter roles
21) Rogan pimping psychedelic therapy as a treatment for PTSD. Specifically MDMA. Can't do double blind studies on MDMA, JD not up to speed on this topic.
22) We need to quit trying to Make the World American. The Iraq war was one of the worst tragedies in history. Need a more isolationist view of foreign policy.
23) JD says that the election is close, he is confident that Trump will win, feels good about it but not great about it.
24) The message that Kamala is the candidate of censorship is starting to make a major dent
25) Why would you make someone president of the US that isn't even confident to talk to the American people on shows like JRE?

Trump calls Vance to tell him he's picking him for VP.

Vance doesn't see the call and it goes to voicemail.

Calls Trump right back and Trump goes, "Sorry JD, you didn't pick up, so we went with somebody else."
