There have been local stories circulating of him being a regular at various adult bookstores 20+ years ago. The people quoted in those stories haven't been the most reliable sources, namely drug addicts who worked in adult bookstores.

They can. In 2006, Mark Foley was the GOP nominee for NC Congress and he dropped out after the deadline. The GOP picked Negron to replace Foley. The only issue is that the original nominee's name remains on the ballot. That's how you ended up with signs like the below.

If this does play out, it should be interesting to see who the state GOP has waiting in the wings. They should have been planning for such a contingency all along.

damn that's a shame if Mark Robinson really has done stuff so scandalous he has to drop out. I think he's been a good Lt. Gov (don't follow that closely) and he's had some great clips / moments of anti-woke speeches over the years.

This story, if true, isn't a huge deal IMO. He's said more provocative things.

I could see this depressing some of the evangelical vote for Governor, but not sure about up and down ballot.

No, hundreds of thousands of ballots have been sent already and some returned. His name is on the ballot. If he did "drop," and someone else announce they were running, it would be a campaign of "Vote Mark Robinson for 2023 NCAggies" for Governor. He is screwed either way, but probably best for purposes of other Republicans up and down the ballot to just deny and push through. He was going to lose before this anyway. I think this was put out in effort to depress turnout and hurt Trump.

What "stupid things" done by Robinson did you know about six months ago? When the Lt Gov decided to run for gov, what other republicans ran against him? Which one should Trump have endorsed over him and why? How about some specific names?
