Honestly I should have read the endorsement, it's not a bad thing and I think her motivations were genuine. She mentioned about doing your own research and getting registered. She didn't say that her supporters NEEDED to vote for Kamala just her reasons for doing so. I didn't find anything overtly partisan about what she said. I think the fear of a Swift influence over a Trump loss prompted the backlash. Just my thoughts.

Guess it didn't have much of an impact. I guess maybe Kamala would have gotten her ass kicked worse if not for the TS endorsement

The fact that she is faking it during her "live" shows is not surprising. Her fans might think they lover her music but it appears to me its more about them getting to feel like they are part of a large popular group or movement.

In a very odd way like the original punk fans. I don't think the punk kids of the late 70s cared so much for anything that was ever played or recorded, it was about the membership in that particular group. And the identity it helped create for them. Angry hopeless kids flipping off anyone and everyone. The music was incidental.

Now Swift has 1000X the following of punk but in both cases the fandoms aren't getting their thrill from any art that might accidentally happen. Its an identity starter kit for the boring. And hey, young people need that sort of thing. I wouldn't be bent out of shape if I had a teen daughter that wanted to "belong" and gravitated to Swift to help make that happen.

I always assumed most people knew this. It's not humanly possible to sound that perfect live and replicate it across show after show. Of course she's not singing all of it.

Add in the spectacle of running around/dancing on stage makes it virtually impossible.

People pay hundreds to even thousands to see TS in concert and she isn't even singing. How is that not fraud? Pretty pricey for some outfit changes and bad dancing.

Yes, I actually meant to mention that too. Even if she is in phenomenal athletic shape, you cannot dance like that and get your heart rate and breathing rate up without significantly compromising your ability to sing.

In the world of participation trophies, the parents have lost the ability to tell their kids no.

Garth Brooks when he was at is height sang live. And he was always very active on stage. You could hear the fact he was live. Part of the live experience is the artist improvising or being different than what you get on radio or record/cd/stream.

I have been to several Rolling Stones concerts. No question Mick Jagger is singing while running all over the place.

At one concert, during the Bridges to Babylon tour, another stage came rolling out and was right next to our seats. Jagger was about 15 feet away. He was singing.

I think most people go to concerts expecting to hear the artist sing live. The artists need to be upfront if they aren't going to be doing that.
