What would make you seek citizenship somewhere else and move?

Would never leave Texas, but if this election goes south, wish Texas would secede. That is never gonna happen here though. Too much blue now.

A tax on unrealized capital gains is pretty high up there. That signifies the death of the American dream. The actual death of the country won't be far behind.

Costa Rica or Columbia are looking better all the time.

What do you think property tax is?

And you should learn how to spell the name of your new country.

I had a couple of colleagues in the marine industry that had the idea about 8 years ago and renounced their citizenship and moved all their assets to live in Costa Rica.
They tried to convince me of the same and said they were going to live like kings and golf and fish all day.
In less than two years they were back and starting all over looking for jobs.

I do plan to live in Vietnam, Columbia and other place when I retire early. Retirement is the only reason I would temporarily live somewhere else.

If I stay during my retirement it is because things are F'd up and I might end up as a political prisoner. I say that with sincere honesty. If you think you can't be a political prisoner just review what the government did after Jan. 6th.

It would take finding a better alternative to the US. Haven't found one yet. I'd want a reasonably warm climate, caucasian majority population (I don't want to move just to become a minority somewhere), capitalist economics and politics that are more conservative than the US. As far as I know, such a place does not exist. New Zealand and Australia are partial matches but are significantly less free and are way more liberal.
I gave Australia a 12 year trial.

It's like a trip to The Spearmint Rhino.

Looks great, gets you excited and there might be more situations available but it's going to take a ridiculous amount of money to get what you'd really like and some things are just not possible.

In the end, you're just going to leave drunk, broke and still unsatisfied.

At this point, I've moved back to Texas and the only thing that could get me to leave my home is a Category 3 or better Hurricane.

You can have other fantasies but if you subscribe to the US Constitution, the only place to be is the USA. And not in a liberal run crappy state like California. Texas, Florida, etc. is where you want to stay.

Seriously, you should be able to spell the name of the country you live in.

Unless you have some kind of significant amount of savings this isn't a reality. Where would you go? Most countries are further left than the US.

I could live in Curacao for a couple of years and Thailand too then end up in Belize. If maybe I wasn't paying such high taxes to prop up the lazy I could already do it.

I haven't checked the laws because I have an awesome job and not ready to hang it up.

Nothing.

I know people like to talk about how terrible it is and how it sucks and how Biden sucks and all that but I've had record setting years with Biden and Trump so, I feel pretty confident the president is not controlling my ability to be successful. Even if Harris wins, this is still the BEST PLACE ON EARTH. Don't lose sight of that.
You bring up a good point.

We really do have a tendency to completely blow out of proportion the impact an individual President has on our lives. I was watching a documentary a few months ago about the Presidency and one of the points mentioned was that each President for the past 50 years had all shared one thing in common. Each had been shocked by how little power they actually had upon gaining power. Well, there's this little thing called "checks and balances" and it kind of works. And in reality it works quite well.

As a conservative a Harris victory will be annoying but we'll live to fight another day. I'm definitely not one of those who whines that if she wins its the end of the Republic. 28' will be here before we know it and F16 will be frothing at the mouth hoping she gets her teeth kicked in.
The problem is the damage the left keeps doing. We're barely treading water. Another dem victory and that'll be 16 out of the last 20 years with a dem in charge.
Think about how much things have changed for the bad just in the last few years? Since 2008? The country is almost unrecognizable. Give them another 4-8 years and it will be unrecoverable.
