1: Idaho

2: New Hampshire (yes I know the Republicans in the NH state senate are very moderate and Sununu is a libertarian but the violent crime rate is similar to some of the safest countries in the world)

3: Maine (cold winters and democrat with some libertarian tendencies government are the negatives….some of the lowest violent crime and property crime rates in the world if you compare it to other countries)

4: Wyoming (yes I know about Mark Gordon but everything else is great)

5: Montana (the top 5 on this list are all pretty states)

6: Nebraska

7: South Dakota

8: Iowa (Kim Reynolds is awesome)

9: Florida (rogue DA removal law is simple but voter initiated amendments to the constitution, term limits on statewide officials so no more Desantis in 2027, and moderately high baseline population predictive violent crime however nowhere near as high as the states in between Florida and Texas…shocking that Florida is the 13th lowest violent crime with the fundamentals being what they are…DeSantis is a god and best governor in US history….hot and humid….low property tax…the 11th circuit is just 7 conservative to 5 liberals....State Supreme Court is not as conservative as other red states)

10: Texas (no voter initiated amendments to the constitution and no term limits on statewide officials but rogue DA removal law is complex and moderately high baseline population predictive violent crime however nowhere near as high as the states in between Texas and Florida…since the second half of 2021 Abbott and the state government have become much more conservative…….5th circuit court of appeals is very conservative…The all Republican Texas Supreme Court actually write rulings like conservatives instead of other Republican state courts like Montana....hot and humid in some areas….very high property tax....worst urban blight and decay of any state in the top 10.....worst violent crime rate of all of the top 10 with a vast majority of it occurring in the urban metro counties however rural Texas is safer than other rural areas in the central and eastern sunbelt in terms of violent crime and homicide rates)

Honorable mentions: Utah (Spencer Cox, worst Republican governor in the country, single handedly kept Utah from the top 10 but Phil Lyman did great in a recent primary with 46 percent against Cox even without Mike Lee's endorsement and a massive money disadvantage…..Utah has very low property tax), and North Dakota

I know New Hampshire and Maine are not red states (New Hampshire does have a Republican trifecta right now however). Nevertheless they both belong on this list because of the quality of life factors they provide that conservatives find important. Take a vacation to both of them and see for yourself.

I used extensive statistical analysis of quality of life factors that conservatives and Republicans care about in addition to how conservative the state government/state constitution/laws/state judiciary are to make this list. New Hampshire and Maine's quality of life factors for conservatives far outweighs how not conservative their state governments are.

Gods run perfect campaigns. DeSantis is no god. He is a real good governor though. Desantis '28 but not '24.

New Hampshire will be a damn good sneak play for retirement once they finish phasing out taxes on interest from retirement accounts in 2027.

The property tax doesn't look pretty. But I could deal with that in return for no taxation elsewhere.

EDIT...make that 2025...

I know. I was using the reference in a sports or competition greek god context.

For example: Harrison Butker can kick like a god.

Coolest state motto ever: Live free or die

Yes. The property taxes are high but if you live in suburban Texas it is something you are accustomed to. However, yes in retirement property taxes become very difficult because of reduced income.

Who the hell is worried about crime? The question is do you live somewhere that is pro self-defense and pro law enforcement. If you do, you are good to go.

And are you sufficiently insulated from liberal stupidity. Was your office building shut down during Covid and were most of your neighbors masking. That is a great litmus test for how conservative a place you live in.

Sorry, but any place that has really cold winters…I am out. I no longer do ice, snow, blizzards, etc…been there done that and never more. so I am not moving to a place like Montana or Wyoming regardless of how many chummy conservative neighbors there are. I'll visit in summers maybe so That would basically eliminate 7-8 states on that list for me. Weather would matter as much or more to me than whether a state votes blue or red.

Even California…there are some really nice areas to live. That is a huge state. Every single square mile of it isn't trash and full of hordes of evil 'libs'.

OP put as much thought into this list as he did the "Trump must drop out and let the New Hampshire governor win" topic he started.

Is the ideal solution for Republicans to all move to the same state and reduce their impact in the Electoral College?

Same here. 8 of the 10 are in the no-go zone for a southern boy.

They left out TN, SC, AL, MS, OK, and AR for starters. Even GA is conservative once you get outside of ATL. There are many places in all of those states that are great places to live unless you have to live in a major metro with the high-end, uppity stuff that the "elites" require.

Wow your 1 to 8 is lame. Those are low impact low GDP states. Not exactly on fire job markets and economies. Nice places to retire if you like nothing or nobody around. ID is growing but its so small it doesnt move the needle much though Boise has great potential.

Now Texas, Fla, Ga, NC, Tn can move the dial, all top 15 states in pop and eco punch. Those place you go for your career.

You cannot be on this list if you have Memphis metro in your state.

Look up Eliza Fletcher.

Some parts of Memphis are more dangerous than Johannesburg.

Been to both many times. NH is a neat state and Concord an awesome capitol, but there's still a prevalent Dem vibe about the town.

Maine is liberal as hell (Augusta and Portland) unless you get out into the rural areas. However the population centers drive policy in the state.

Both states have been blue in recent elections, so they wouldn't be in my top 10 for conservative states.

As someone who now lives in northern MA that spends a ton of time in NH and is hoping to sneak across the border to NH in a few years, I'm glad you enjoyed your visit. It's beautiful from late spring through mid-fall.

Now try coming back in winter when the highs barely break freezing and it's dark outside at 4pm for weeks and see if you share the same enthusiasm. I'm very much rooting for climate change to make it livable up here for more than 6 months a year.

Splitting time between NH and TX/FL may be the way to go, but you'll be getting killed paying property taxes in both states (and the high housing costs in NH).

Memphis makes Houston, Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio look like Tokyo or Singapore.

Houston, Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio are really bad but Memphis along with Baltimore/parts of Chicago/Detroit/St. Louis are the closest thing we have to Johannesburg in terms of violence in the US.

This list was created using the latest data from the federal government: https://realestate.usnews.com/places/rankings/most-dangerous-places
