He makes a great point, SEC school applications are booming. Bama has been a big winner in this.

Generally speaking, half-naked college girls aren't viewed to be paragons of traditional conservatism

He didn't say traditional conservatism. He said traditional gender roles and that video most definitely represents that.

Ya he lost me when he said that it's hard to get in to Ole Miss, the safety school for folks who can't get in to Texas Tech.

Ole Miss has always pulled a lot of outta staters. But I saw somewhere where the Ivies with their radicalism now are being referred to as Poison Ivies and that is a perfect description for those yankee cesspools.

Absolutely not. He is saying hot girls are the traditional gender role for college kids. That has zero to do with conservatism. At that age hot girls can be liberal, in fact I'm guessing most are. But they aren't woke purple haired land mammals looking for reasons to be offended. Thats his point.

Not sure where you extrapolated that out of his tweet? And the fact that there is a "traditional gender role" at all is a conservative idea, though it seems modern conservatives think that young women twerking in front of a camera is definitely the proper role for them in society

This is the hill you want to die on? It's a video of pretty young women at a more conservative school having some fun. You trying to make a point that everything Travis said is related to this video is why I frequently say that you have to be intentionally obtuse to be a liberal. SEC schools and other conservative colleges are becoming more popular than in the recent past because many parents don't want to send their kids to standard left wing madrassas (most colleges).

Lol, I'm not blaming the girls for this. It's not their fault young men and women have been brought up in a culture promoting promiscuity like this. And I even think there's truth to the idea that people come to these colleges because they view scenes like this as more "conservative" than, say, that school in Austin parading blue haired losers championing phallic objects in protesting guns. Which I mean, yeah, sure, anything would be. But the fact remains that most conservatives in history, including up to 10 years ago, would be horrified by the idea that someone like Travis would promote women shaking their butts to strangers on the internet as a "traditional gender role."

Lighten up Francis. Some cute sorority girls did a dance number.

It's very simple and expressed plainly in videos of feminine sorority girls having fun -- people like to go to places where boys are boys, girls are girls, and to quote Dan Campbell, where men like women and women like men. Contrary to liberal belief, it is called "normal" and a return to normalcy is very inviting to a lot of parents and kids.

And as more and more woke university students are finding out, they offer a better chance for success. I didn't see many Fortune 500 companies or law firms coming down strong on Ole Miss for their anti-Israel stances.

The issue is not about traditional gender roles. It is about going to a school where the culture is dominated by sanctimonious and miserable people wanting everyone around them to be miserable as well - disruptive protests, free speech arguments used to empower some and oppress others, etc.

People in college have their life ahead of them and are figuring out what that will look like. Students want to be hopeful and not dominated by the miserable during their college years. Families are voting with their college decisions on these things now as many schools have been run into the ground by the leadership (or lack therof).

That's great, and I agree with that sentiment entirely. However, my argument has been throughout this entire thread that Clay is way off in categorizing this as a "traditional gender role," which I'm sure many who listen to him will associate with "traditional conservative values," as they have been for decades now.

One big reason is that some schools like Bama and Ole Miss offer amazing financial packages to out of state kids who do well on their SATs, ACTs, and National Merit Scholar exam.

My granddaughter was offered close to $40,000 a year to go to to Bama. A&M and tu basically don't offer squat in comparison.

That's because A&M and tu don't have to.

Bro - if you were a California Covid veteran you'd rejoice at this video.

Girls looking like girls.
Nobody wearing a bloody Covid mask.
And not a single indication indication that any of these girls are going to start screaming about colonizers and privilege.

This is all red meat to traditional Americans.

And nothing indicating promiscuity in my book. This wasn't a video about shouting your abortion.

Once again, people seem to confuse the point I'm actually making. Is this BETTER than socialist wackos at universities on the west coast and northeast? Sure, fine. Again, at that point, anything would seem traditional in contrast. My concern is that people with big followings like Clay seem to be holding this up as a standard of "traditional gender roles". Sure, it's closer, but lets not kid ourselves into thinking most societies throughout history, including most of US history, would find anything traditional about chicks shaking their butts for strangers online.

dude. take a seat.

we all know what you're trying to say. we are just telling you what you're trying to say is dumb. nobody thought Clay was referring to puritanism when he said "traditional". not a single person. we ALL understood it as traditional femininity
