No, I barely watched anything because every time I turned it on it was some idiotic "sport" that most people had never heard of. When you water something down it loses value.Ghost of Andrew Eaton said:Why? Did you waste your time watching the events you disliked?aggie93 said:
The Olympics should get rid of at least half of the current events. Change my mind.

Uhhhh spoiler alert? You know the closing ceremonies are over yes?
Is there a prime-time replay tonight?
Are y'all talking about regular ping pong ? Or the one where they shoot the ball from their privates and see how far it goes ?boulderaggie said:Break dancing says 'Hi'TA-OP said:
Ping Pong is a real sport according to the stupid definition touted here two weeks ago that only events that use objective scoring are suited for the Olympics.
Quidditch stands a better chance.BQ78 said:
Get ready for flag football in 2028, I'm serious.
Used to watch the Olympics every day. Got so excited they were coming up and was engaged with our athletes. I remember actually caring about the medal count. Some of the events know are just ridiculous. Surfing? Breakdancing? Slalom canoe? Trampolining? I just watched T&F and women's soccer and badminton didn't come to mind at all when I watched those events.
You must not Peacock. We don't have one channel covering the Olympics anymore. You can literally choose which event you watch and they have a feed.aggie93 said:Used to watch the Olympics every day. If you have fewer sports the ones that remain mean more and get more attention.
15 years ago some colleagues and I constructed a matrix that tried to define what is and isn't a sport and it was really hard to draw a line. What we came up with eventually is tiers of sports from 1 to 4. The major criteria defining level of sport were in no particular order: level of physical athleticism required, level of technical skill, team dynamics, physical contact with opponents, objective scoring, and element of defense (for example in golf or a race you don't directly hinder your opponent from doing what they want).TA-OP said:

So, the USA dominates in the overall medal count. Tied with China with 40 Gold medals each. I'm sure China will tout how they dominated the games with 40 Gold Medal's. But, 5 of China's Gold medals came from Ping Pong. Go figure…
Is Ping Pong a real sport? Why not make other "table games" like billiards or air hockey an Olympic sport while we are at it? Heck, let's get Corn Hole and Beer Pong added too. Geez…
