Check out the engine nacelle. Reflection of the building behind the photographer and no crowd present.

Reportedly they were paying $15/hour to hold anti-Trump signs at the Phoenix event yesterday.

Honestly, that would be a more favorable situation.

Looking at those photographs, I'm not sure that the reflections prove much since they might be reflecting above the crowd, not reflecting the crowd. Those engines are not that low to the ground.

That said, it would be surprising that they would allow the crowd to be so close, but I cannot be sure.

More problematic, I think, is the vast differences in height of the crowd. It's like some of them are standing on stepladders.

Compare, for example, how far they keep the crowd back in this pictures:

So the picture is suspicious, but more because of how close the crowd is there.

The engine nacelle (in layman's terms, the thing that contains/holds the engine) is round. If there were multiple thousands of people like this photo suggests, they would be reflected by it. However, AI is terrible at showing nuances like that. This 'picture' also has multiple people with phones out recording/taking pictures and all of their screens show different things while pointing in the same direction.

The part you are looking for reflections is above any point where the tangent line has a positive slope.

Furthermore, you would not expect them to have so many people there that the crowd would stretch back very far anyway. If the crowd is real, it isn't very deep. Most likely it is vetted reporters and/or campaign workers.

There isn't going to be thousands of people surrounding Air Force Two on the ground.

That said, it still looks far too close to the aircraft. It's hard to believe that they would bring in even a few hundred people that close.

The reflection in the nacelle looks like the shadow from the building is on the airplane side, but the crowd and airplane have the sun behind it. Or maybe I'm just making **** up?

Next we will be told that Vance photoshopped her plane into his meeting with the press on the tarmac. Democrats have to deflect.

Lmaaaoooo

You're comparing a day time photo where you can see empty pavement vs. a night time photo that wouldn't show the reflections.

Your goaltending for the Dems is laughable.

Another, and easier way to tell the photo is a fake. The depth of field for focusing. The crowd closest to the camera is in focus. The further away parts of the crowd are very out of focus. Then the aircraft is in better focus than the crowd.

That's not the way a camera lens works.

It looks like it is a real photo from the Detroit rally, above, but with distorted perspective......

I looked into it because I love outting bull****/photoshopped photos, but it is likely a real photo from the Detroit Metro Airport rally.

Full gallery from another photographer if you want: https://www.mlive.com/politics/2024/08/our-favorite-photos-from-kamala-harris-detroit-rally-with-tim-walz.html

But when you see more photos of the event, it is likely very real and the people just look closer to the plane because a lens with a longer focal length will compress the image so that things that are father away look to be on a closer plane than they really are.

If you look under the plane and see the baggage carts, they are probably appearing a lot closer than they actually are to the plane. Same lens compression causes that.

The effect of the compression is used cinematically with a dolly zoom or Hitchcock zoom (same effect, different names, Hitchcock used it in Vertigo)

Roy Schieder stays in about the same place but the background looks like it is getting further away. That is because they are pushing a camera closer to him, while zooming from telephoto to wide angle to make the background fall away.

Same idea, the seagrass isn't getting further away, just the focal length of the lens is changing and they are moving the camera towards the subject to keep him framed about the same spot.

So likely not photoshopped. Just used a ~300mm lens and had all the people in the photo so it looks more compressed than most photos of events like this, where you see more crowd shots with wide angle lenses, and the telelphoto lenses used for stage shots only.

Video of the event from a bit to the left and they zoom out in the video:

I am not comparing a day time photo with a night time photo to see reflections. The entire purpose of the second photo was to show that they aren't likely to have crowds running all the way up to the aircraft.

But keep spinning away.

That could certainly explain why the crowd looks so close to the airplane.
