For their ratings on movies and video games, sex and such is OK from age 15 but you have to be 18+ for violent content - think "Call of Duty".

As a parent of 1 late Millennial and 1 Zoomer educated in the Australian system, I can tell you that every 10 year old kid in Australia knows how to create a social media account and start cyber bullying their peers.

The Aussies go harder on cyberbullying than they do real bullying.

And given the Australians love of speed cameras and "dobbing in" their neighbours, I don't think there's really anything to see here. The vast majority of Aussies will probably be fine with this.

How will those you struggle to gain identification be able to access the internet? It's impossible to expect some folks to have ID to be able to use the internet or vote. This is discriminatory.

In 2026, they may roll it out as an option for other sites similar to how you log into maybe websites using you Facebook, Google or Apple ID. But again, that's strictly optional. And that doesn't mean tracking - only authentication. That's not how keystones work.

Social media is not explicitly part of the bill and neither is compulsion.

The only area where compulsory id is being discussed is in age verification for porn sites, but that is still in the works and completely separate from this legislation.
