They're just now figuring out that when the economy is bad and inflation is high, people tend to spend less money on entertainment?

I just read an article talking about how McDonald's is losing business yet Chipotle is gaining. It's being attributed to what customers see as value, and it looks like Disney and McDs aren't giving enough of a valid (i.e. bang for their buck) to the costumer.

The market is deciding for companies like this, as they should be.

Too many companies kept increasing prices long after they recouped the increase in whatever happened to them in covid and now customers are giving them the finger by not giving them their money.

Chicken bowl and drink is like 12 bucks

Big Mac meal is around 10

Give me Chipotle

This hyper inflation of them parks has been going on for a long time.

Maybe they finally found the breaking point.

Hoping sporting events find that place soon too.

I am in top 5% and I can't afford to take my kids to games. Really not sure who attends all these sporting events.
Some people just have that "one thing" they just love. Could be a motorcycle, a boat, season tickets, a home theater system, etc. They'll push other things aside to make room for that one thing, whether it's smart or not.

The myth of "The Happiest Place on Earth". I've never seen more instances of a wife b&$+@ing out her husband as the kids are in complete meltdown mode. Meanwhile, Dad looks on with the "I can't believe what I'm shelling out for this miserable experience."

I've seen some funny stuff. Anywhere you put that many humans together you're going to see it. But that has never been my experience. Whole family enjoys it with no stress, no meltdowns, but definitely an empty wallet at the end of the week.

I see on other sites that the Disney parks have 2 problems, one that the parks are over crowded and the other problem is that the parks are too expensive. Can't win with everyone

That sounds like a failure to plan. Kids can be easily overwhelmed in any situation. You have to be prepared for that. Strollers, naps, and rider swap go a long way towards sorting all that out.

They initially raised rates as a way to reduce traffic (or so they claim). But as people are still willing to pay more for something, you have to expect someone will continue raising the price. Maybe they've finally found their ceiling.

That's the problem with all the new features (revenue drivers) they've introduced to the parks experience. It's more expensive, more exhausting and takes away from the actual experience in the parks as you're constantly check the app for a FP to a ride.

They have 2 areas that are making money, the parks and the cruise line. Thats their bread and butter now.

Yes. And you'll support them when they realize they spent all of their money and can't support themselves

The article says it makes more sense for many people to go overseas for a vacay than to a theme park.
Trump will fix it.

Anybody been on a Disney cruise? Seems like a cheaper option.

We have been on a couple . More expensive than other cruise lines because they don't have the gambling to offset the cost. Service and food was very good. We have cruise with and without kids and have enjoyed ourselves both times.

Its actually not. It's easy to spend $8k for a family of 4 and you can't value shop things like hotels and meals. But the product is very good.

No way we go back.

We went in November '21. It was awful.

1) Way, way, way too many young adults there to just hang out and be obnoxious punks.
2) Seemed like a pride parade around every other corner.
3) The wait times for the better rides were simply not worth it.

Overall it felt like a giant rip off.

Thankfully my 3 boys all hated Disney and I was never put in the position of wanting to go.
