We see a ladder in the photos, but they might not be his. He may not have even seen that one. There are a lot of AC units and other building nuances - it's very possible he observed and easy way to just climb on top of it.

The rifle is harder to guess on. He'd have to be reasonably skilled to disconnect the lower and upper, use a backpack (his doesn't look big enough) and reassemble them on the roof or behind a bush. But it's possible.

The other question I'd have is where did he park or approach from. Just how much ground would he have had to cover with a rifle without being noticed. Thats reeks crazy - but then again, so does a roof top <150 meters from Trump that isn't protected. Did they also let anyone just pull up and park by this building?
Pretty sweet that you can just go through SS security with rifle, as long as not completely assembled. Can't do that at an Astros game, that's for sure.

Assuming the reports that he got through SS security check with range finder are true.

There are no reports that he got a rifle thru a SS security check. Everything he accessed for the shooting was outside the SS security check.

There are conflicting reports regarding the range finder, some state he was seen using it, and some that he got it thru the security check earlier before leaving the secure perimeter and to the area outside the secured perimeter to do the shooting.

From the photos I recall seeing, there wasn't any rooftop equipment on the building. Doesn't mean a roof access ladder couldn't be there, it just makes it a lot less likely that it would be.

Based on the colossal **** up so far, i would be surprised if he didnt just drive up to the building in the van.

Maybe he used the parking lot and walked up... but would yall be shocked if he just parked close and climbed onto the van and used it to get onto the building?

I go back and forth between this being comical and depressing.

It's a sad day for america, but I really feel that 50% of f16 could do better than this with a group of 5 posters and 30 rednecks from various deer leases.

The significance of the transmitter is that this kid had to have some basic knowledge of electronic circuitry or someone helped him.

He probably had the "trigger" as some kind of a remote (like a garage door opener) wired to a reciever either through a relay or the reciever itself would complete the circuit; which would cause the explosive device to set off.

This dude either knew how to test circuits with a Fluke meter or like previously mentioned...somebody else helped.

The stuff I linked to in a previous post was off-the-shelf. Some basic circuitry knowledge is needed, but nothing the average high school student couldn't learn. It was basically all hobbyist stuff.

That looks like a garage door opener to me.
It is and its also a close range transmitter. Very short ranged. Most garage doors use a weak short ranged radio signal to trigger a switch. If you look at your opener in your garage it may have a foot long wire hanging down from the back of the chassis. That is an antenna or the antenna my be built into the chassis itself. BTW your fob is likely to be a transmitter. They are as common as dirt.

Based on what attendees have said about how far away they had to park, I suspect that his vehicle was out of range to use this as he planned. It may have been the only thing in his plan where he encountered an obstacle.

Specs for that transmitter say it could do a half mile, given ideal line-of-sight conditions. And made in China specs.

Not even that. He could have just taken an operable garage door mechanism, plugged it into a solar battery and used the mechanism to set off a mechanical trigger. No special electronics knowledge needed other than programing the transmitter for the right signal which could probably be done with the poorly translated directions in the box.

Fox is making a big deal about the recovery of the shooter's transmitter but doesn't say what it's used for. I tried to look it up but didn't get a clear answer.

What is the significance of a "transmitter"?

It transmits something. Duh.

Which would make sense if he had left a manifesto, sent a letter to a paper, or even made a social media post stating his cause. Who tries to make a "statement" without saying anything to anyone? He had to to know he was on a suicide mission.

Apparently a transmitter can not be used to tell Trump to take cover and exit the stage.

Otherwise, a transmitter has many uses
