I find it funny that Stewart wants to pick at O'Reilly for assuming Biden was thinking 'Third Reich' on his comments about Trump...when just last week Stewart joked about Biden's "I'll do my best to win against Trump" remarks with "Did FDR say 'Oh I'll try my best' against the Nazis?". That wasn't just a casual comparison. But he wants to goal-tend when Bill does the same thing that Stewart did.

He's also projecting with the whole "Your candidate" comment to make Bill out to be a Trump-lover but make himself seem above the fray. We know Stewart will support whoever the Dems nominate.

And of course Stewart wants to talk about the Jan 6 rhetoric, but won't even acknowledge that Biden has labeled every Trump voter (aka half the country) as a 'threat' to democracy. Honestly I wished Bill had followed up with that.

I remember watching The O'Reilly Factor and The Daily Show back in their heyday during the GWB and Obama administrations. Stewart (and Colbert as his 'fake' O'Reilly character) mercilessly mocked O'Reilly as being this stiff, non-humorous, old man yelling at clouds. It's ironic, because Stewart has become very much that same thing. Instead of clowning everyone like he did 20 years ago, he's taken this position of "Ok I'm gonna tell some jokes, but I'm here to save America from MAGA and I'm super serious!"

Never was a big O'Reilly fan, but I really enjoy it when he makes an appearance on Glenn Beck. They have a very funny rapport. Good comedy.

You should have stopped watching the daily show approximately 2 years into getting your first post college job.

The funny part is the archs of Jon Stewart and Tucker Carlson. Jon was great and Tucker sucked, rightly so. Nowadays Jon Stewart comes off as a partisan hack who isn't funny anymore and Carlson has become way more introspective. I think the big defining factor is that Carlson truly, and rightly, believes in God and demons animating all of our rights and wrongs. I think Carlson has seen it up close and recoils while Stewart doesnt.

It's a comedy show. They say stupid **** for laughs. That's all it is. It's pretty funny when you turn off your political radar and just relax and laugh about the ridiculousness of politics and politicians in general.

I saw an interview once where O'Reilly attacked George Will, an actual intellectual, when Will simply pointed out that one of O'Reilly's history books was wrong on its facts. Will didn't just make a side comment - he cited his historical sources, so it was clear that Will was correct. O'Reilly's response is exactly how you might imagine that a bombastic blowhard would act when he gets defensive. That's the last time I paid attention to anything O'Reilly wrote or said - he's an entertainer, not a serious thinker. Wildly successful entertainer, but an entertainer nonetheless.

Stewart simply isn't a deep thinker. He's talented comedian. When his show was all about trolling the Right and other ridiculous news stories, it was really funny. Even if I didn't agree with him, his facial expressions and silly demeanor could make me laugh about something. He was never 'impartial' like his diehard fans would claim, but the show didn't take itself seriously at all and could make you laugh. It was more of a glimpse into the ridiculousness of society than trying to 'inform' us of how to view the world.

But then under Obama he started slowly pivoting toward a style of comedy where he was trying to 'inform' more than entertain. When Trevor Noah took over, it went further that direction...no longer about silly comedy by more about informing us of how evil the Right was because of Donald Trump.

Tucker, on the other hand, pounds away at questioning our trust in the govt and leaders in general. That's at the heart of basically every point he makes. Sure, he has an entertainment flare and knows the buttons to push to get attention...but there's a method behind his strategy. And again, even if I don't agree with all of his positions, he's consistent in questioning what the govt tells us is good for us. War, UFO's, govt control, media, etc...he always comes back to never taking something at face value like our leaders and the media want us to.

Dumbasses gets their "news" from the show. Like much of the media, they lie about or slander conservatives to make political points. Unlike most of the media, they then retreat to "it's just comedy!!!" when called out on their BS.

The problem is, they don't focus on all the ridiculousness of politics...just the ridiculousness they want you to see. There's been an endless amount of material, but they've mostly just stuck to Trump. In fact, you'd have thought Trump was still President these past 4 years.

I'm glad Stewart finally started making fun of Biden's numerous cringy moments when they were basically downplayed for the past 4 years. But he's only doing it now that the Dems are openly questioning Biden and want him replaced with someone else.

If you want a laugh, to to YouTube and enter "smu wfaa o'reilly" in the search box.

O'Reilly was a feature reporter in the mid-70's at WFAA in Dallas, and SMU has an archive of a lot of their footage, including several of O'Reilly's feature stories. Here's one:
