yes, but if that was happening, surely a sniper in line of sight (which obviously they had because they shot him after the assignation attempt) should have kept permanent watch on the rooftop until given all clear by the cop.... With that - they would have taken the would be shooter out as the shooter moved into position...

Anybody else look at this overhead and see a reasonably attainable perch from which LE would have had complete visual control of the AGR complex ... plus a vantage point for much more of the surrounding grounds?

Obviously a sniper on that water tower or at least optics would have been smart

I think we're talking about 1-2 seconds between engagement and the shots fired at Trump.

Given the other reporting that SS can't fire until fired upon makes the scenario go.

1. Crowd - hey guy on roof

2. Counter sniper possibly help LE find shooter on correct building

3. LE pokes head over to confirm and possibly disrupt (no gun drawn?)

4. Shooter fires.

5. SS fires.

I can see some concern over fields of fire from that angle. If so then securing the buildings on the ground after sanitizing them would have been enough.

Same reason not to man them on top if sniper was looking further down range over that position.

Video cameras with live feed on that tower would have been helpful

Do they put up temporary cameras around these events? If so, the timeline/breakdown of movements would be definitively revealed.

Unless this was planned (don't think they would have failed for one thing, with professional involvement) there should be MANY lessons learned.
