How long until they release that it was an AR-15 and they call for a total ban?

Not long. Confirmed AR style. Sounded like a suppressed 5.56.

It did sound like a suppressed .22cal

Yep, already being reported it was an "AR," which to them means assault rifle. They have no idea about the model numbers and won't even bother to report it when they have that information.

They'll just casually call it an "assault rifle" from here forward.

Worst news for dems...it was an AR and not ONE person in team Trump will blame the gun or care what kind it was.

I doubt it. Trumps tweet says he felt the round rip through his ear. I think 5.56 or .223 would have taken the top of his ear off. I'm still thinking .22LR

Zero chance it was .22

Suppressed .22 has no snap or sonic boom. They're sub sonic. I had a 7.62 go through my toe. Still have my toe. 5.56 is a small and fast bullet. It can easily graze.

This is all my opinion of course.

Most 22lr are supersonic leaving the barrel. The make subs but most are supers.

An AR-15 is a stupid weapon choice for that job. If confirmed to be an AR-15, it's probably Antifa or an unhinged Rainbow warrior. No professional assassin would choose that platform for that job.

Nobody who was serious about pulling this off would have used an AR-15

True, barrel is too short for long range accuracy.

But just having a composite stock and a few add on accessories makes any gun 'AR style' in the media

not a .22 imho
.223 more likely

Agreed it will be some variant of .22cal. Unlikely to be a 300blk

Why does my suppressed .22 not need subsonic. After googling it looks like barrel length determines if it goes super. I'm not a ballistics expert though.

Yep out of a rifle, super. Pistol, sub. This was undoubtedly a rifle. Probably .556.

I am 1 for 1 on the sound of the gas cycle of the rifle.

Pitch didn't sound right to be a .223, too high. Pitch sounded too low to be a .22...

I'm sticking with 5.56 suppressed or subsonic rounds.

I thought it sounded like a suppressed .22 as well but the return shots that killed the guy sounded pretty much the same to me and I know those weren't .22's. Maybe the tv microphones muffled it or something.

A. The shooter wasn't that far away. 125 yards, from every report I've seen. That's not a long distance shot.

B. Barrel length doesn't matter wrt accuracy at that range. Soldiers train to engage targets at 300m with a 13.5" barrel M4 and a red dot, and even farther with magnified optics. Other calibers can do even better. Hell, my 9mm AR with a 5" barrel can keep every round in a 6" circle at 100 yards.

Question for me is if the shooter was on the AGR building, how far was that feom where the stage was?

I knew y'all went out farther than the Army did during BRM, but I couldn't remember how far, so I stuck with the Army ranges I do know.

If 125yrds I can shoot that distance accurately with a 10/22 and better scope than I have. I kill hogs with it all the time at 100yds

I was going to get on Google Earth and do the measurement as it's been stated it was 150 yards then some have stated 400 meters which is 437 yards.

One of the people at the rally said it was 'maybe 200 feet'. The witness might be a terrible judge of distance. That's really close.

It sounded suppressed to me, or a .22. I bet suppressed.

Although the sound system for the microphones could have dampened the sound. Could have been full power.
drred4
How long do you want to ignore this user?
With possibly 50k there 200 feet would be inside a perimeter of rally I would think. Which would be unlikely. I would think bad judge of distance, could be wrong.

The weapon was Democrat/Left-Wing-Media demagoguery that triggered this shooting and the shooting at the Congressional Baseball game seven years ago.

I just watched the video. Zero chance that's a .22
My guess is .223/5.56
