Cheatle confronted by Republican Senators at the RNC. She told them this wasn't the time or place to answer their questions.

She finally got something right. What a stupid thing for those guys to do when she's on the job.

You think she was there in a security role? She was there to schmooze with elites, as bait for exactly what happened.

She's lucky she wasn't grabbed and cared and feathered.

Yes I think the head of the SS, in the aftermath of an assassination attempt, at the most secure event going on in our country, was working, not grabbing cocktails. That doesn't change the fact that she should be fired, but our politicians need to have some common sense.

If they had common sense, that moron would already be jobless (if not arrested.) Amazingly, she was not there directly for security reasons. Not sure that should surprise anyone at this point.

Well…you'd be wrong. She was in an executive suite to congratulate her team for the job they are doing securing the convention. She even commented that she didn't want this to take away from their moment of celebration.

Was it really stupid though? This was the worst failure by the USSS in decades and it occurred under her watch with a DEI expansion mandate. I think they were representing their constituents' concerns quite well.

If that's accurate then it's not as inappropriate as I thought and I stand corrected. I'm not sure how an appearance by her would lift anyone in the SS' morale if that was really her only purpose to be there.

The photographer conspiracy is nonsense and people pushing it don't even deserve a response. The guy was doing his job and doing it well. He didn't have his camera settings changed to photograph a bullet going the speed of sound because he was tipped off about it beforehand.

The idea of timing a shutter click to 1/3200th of a second is comical. Especially when the bullet would wiz by before you heard the shot. Dumbest conspiracy theory ever.

His camera is so fancy and high tech there's no reason not to shoot fast and ensure you get zero blur from hands, camera, wind moving the camera, etc. heck most of those camera men were moving constantly which will add blur. Full daylight allows you to shoot faster because you don't need a high iso

That's a poor take and only for conspiracy take.

So your confirmation is other no bodies reaching on to the idea and tweeting it?

I keep finding ways to make this about competitive shooting.

The few times I took my big camera to matches I caught 9mm in pics. 9mm is much slower than 223 but my point is photographing a bullet in flight is not like winning the lottery.

To me, the only things weird about the bullet photo is that it "absolutely proves" the trajectory of the shot and supports the official story of the shooter. and I've never seen a real photo like that before. only in the movies

That's exactly right. I shot pro baseball and Aggie baseball for years. We obviously want to get the bat on the ball every time and we know when the pitch is coming and about how long it takes to get to the bat. Actually getting bat on ball doesn't happen that often.

And that's a 90 mph ball. Not a 3,000 ft per second projectile

Aren't the cops and secret service supposed to be watching for suspicious people like this.

How did they not assign someone to shadow this guy.

It's inconceivable.

What's more amazing is nothing has been mentioned about them even confronting him or inquiring about the range finder. That's a level of fail beyond incompetence.

Yeah he's a very good photographer who also got lucky. Trump gave a very Trumpy paise of his work a few years ago I read "The best. A genius photographer, a magician with a camera.' or something like that.

And when they are taking those pictures nowadays and hit click on the high end DSLR camera they bring, it takes like 10 or 20 in a row I believe. I think, but could be wrong, the camera even uploads images to the cloud (over time) automatically to be edited later, so they also aren't limited by the onboard flash storage even at this point.
Pro cameras today are mirrorless dslr and are capable of shooting much higher speeds than 10-20 in a row

Correct. If anybody on F16 reading this right now had been plucked from the crowd and pressed into service they would have at least talked to an individual walking around looking at rooftops & measuring distances with a rangefinder. Any number of professionals should have done the same, but they did not. The only rational reason was that their neglecting their professional responsibility & common sense was that it was intentional.

I can definitely see a republican in rural Pennsylvania having a rangefinder but not binoculars so he could see better.

Innocuous reason is feasible

Was someone from the secret service actively on a phone call with DC when the shooting took place?

Has that been confirmed as fact?

Has it been confirmed that someone took a photo of the guy then circulated amongst themselves for an hour until they got on the phone and talked about it amongst themselves?

This sounds like what Karens on Nextdoor do.

Was there someone with tactical control and authority to act on the ground in PA?

Opinions some don't like about theories that haven't been proven or disproven, even if unlikely, but are getting a lot of discussion on X: don't deserve a response / need to be taken out as "trash" / need moderation on the discussion forum?

Why don't people just move on if they think there's nothing to the photography discussion and post about other things instead of asking for post removals and bannings?

The lag was between shooters brain command and action of his finger. The shooter thought he was lined up. He never registered the quick head turn.
Agree. I've participated in numerous cognitive studies where reaction times are measured. For young males, the reaction time from visual input to pushing a button is typically around 200 ms (.2 seconds). Add the flight time of another 0.1 seconds and you're now at a third of a second.

Then add the fact that the target is partially obscured by the gun sight which would make small movements more difficult to recognize. Internal stress and tension also has a rhythm to it and the shooter may have subconsciously committed to firing at the next nadir creating a sense of inertia that would be difficult for a novice to overcome.

Former classmate says shooter and his friend group made threats to shoot up the school?
Says crooks hated politicians and was a know-it-all when it came to politics.
Also, apparently both of the shooters parents were counselors?

clearly incorrect

the fact he had a range finder led the Secret Service and Law Enforcement, as incompetent as they were -

to discuss him and try to take pictures of him and follow him. for more than an hour they were looking around for him as a suspicious figure

People who want to be therapists are often…messed up (ah, the Soprano's…). And let's face it, therapists also often encourage the use of SSRI's, which I think would be a very useful data point…we won't be given any time this year/ever about Crooks.

How big of a security risk is it now that the USSS has now telegraphed their rules of engagement?

A screw up this big is you got to ****can everybody in a leadership position associated with this and start over. It's the only way out of this mess for them.

If we couldn't trust you then, how can we trust you now?

If you in charge of a ship and you crash that ship into the rocks you immediately relieved of command, no questions asked because it happened on your watch.

For some reason there doesn't seem to be any recognition of that fact. It's business as usual.

It only took Bud light a few days to put their marketing VP on leave, here the guy you are tasked with protecting gets shot in the ear and they bouncing along like it's another day at the office.

Yes. He's the best. I think he is the one who Trump called No. 1 photographer in the world a few years ago.

Mills took the Bush photo when he was working for AP. He was the pool photographer that day. Mills has been a POTUS working for various outlets for 40 years. I think he has won 2-3 pulitzers.
