This is a tough one to think about for me because of the implications.

Look, I was no SF cool guy nor a secret squirrel. Just a nobody line grunt that was likable and a smidge smarter than his peers so was maybe afforded a few extra classes and responsibilities that most don't get. Absolutely nothing special.

As the resident nobody, I still took part, planned, and was in charge of many security cordons in an active AO infested with snipers. It was so bad, I ended up becoming a squad RO because every single one we deployed with in my platoon was KIA by snipers except for one WIA who would never be able to walk again. I have lain on rooftoops looking at other rooftoops for several days at the least when the time is added up. Even got hit myself towards the end (armor stopped). So let's just say I had a vested interest to be motivated and attentive in my work. But, at the end, still just a basic ass dude with no high speed training nor expectations of such but who worked countersniper as my life depended on it. I am sad to say that I was never proactively successful btw.

So when I look at Google Maps with the sight lines and distances overlaid, I am floored, absolutely floored, that that roof was not actively and consistently covered. If the super soldiers on social media won't convince you, even the resident nobody who failed to stop a sniper more than once still KNOWS that area should have been covered. That should lend it own weight in its own way I think and the point of this post. That shooter should never have been allowed onto that roof, much less into a firing position. Period. I have tried to convince myself of ways aside from the most gross incompetence I may have ever seen in a professional body.....to the assertion it was allowed. And I can't.

This is such a systemic failure that it legitimately worries me moving forward. And I don't worry.

Thx. I find it interesting how this is sort of bridging a lot of us who…have disagreed vehemently with each other on this forum as to how plausible/believable etc. the 'incompetence' story is here. It just doesn't pass the smell test, imho, on multiple levels (access/weapon/timeline/shooter/responses/after-action reports etc).

Be interesting to see whether evidence confirms whether the shooter had ever visited the site before.

The sniper, in my opinion, knew he was there and was instructed to wait for the shooter to fire several times before ending it.

I am now hearing the kid belonged to some gun club. That is where the influence was performed. This kid did not get on that building without help. Too many variables had to go right.

I don't know if it has been mentioned, but if you go Google street view - in the parking lot on the opposite side of the sniper's building where the ladder was laid up against the building - you will see four tall evergreen green trees bunched together that could easily have been used to hide the ladder and rifle (hidden inside the grouping of trees). The trees could also shield anyone from seeing the sniper scale pull the ladder out and scale the building.

What variables?

The kid knows how to shoot a rifle. Lots of 20 year olds do.

He could have put the weapon in the area previously. He hopped up on the roof and shot. Not sure what other variables or help are needed?

Now...why the SS didnt have that area secure is a legit discussion.

Exactly. When you watch the wider angles, there's a ton of people looking in that direction. And yeah, everyone who didn't already have their phone out, whipped them out fast when all hell broke loose.

And I'll add this - in the wider shots, there are lots of people that don't react and just stand/sit there.
Also, if she was the 'spotter/green light lady', wouldn't she know she'd be on camera and therefore dive for cover or at least not smirk?

We could probably zoom in on 50% of the crowd and see something to be twisted into a conspiracy theory.

Once they figure out a narrative that's not so insanely stupid that at least their own sheeple will believe them, then they will release another statement. So far, they have (in no particular order)

1. Trump fell down due to some loud noises
2. The shooter was a registered Republican
3. It was local law enforcement's fault
4. It was due to Trump's rhetoric

Those are all so ****ing stupid that their own idiots are not buying it. I mean, they've not even brought REEEE GUNS!!!!

so why were the 2 sets of snipers set up towards those buildings to start with? why were they not looking other directions? seems odd, if that was was a potential problem wouldnt you just have people on those buildings to start with? I dont know crap about perimeter security but I can use common sense

It's interesting to imagine that maybe this somewhat recently radicalized young man believed 95% chance he'd be apprehended and just get some clout for having been willing to try taking out Trump. He may have been shocked by the ease with which he found himself looking down a scope at his stationary target. Thank God he didn't make a slight adjustment.
