Bongino made an interesting comment today. He said the protectee will get the maximum in an incident and the threat gets the minimum attention.

He was a fire chief in a small PA town.

Why are there separate channels that lead to secret service telling the President to get down and cover and escort off stage? A gnat fart should lead to overprotective measures. They don't even have to shoot the shooter, they just had to tell him to get down.
They should have have jumped on him to get him flat on the ground and keep him on that level until he was safe. He's got too much mass and height (not in a negative body-shaming way) and that makes himn an easier target than someone who's a lot more average in size.

ABC news just reported that Bulter PD responded to reports of a suspicious person on the roof. According to this report, a local police officer was climbing up to get on the roof when the shooter turned and pointed in his direction, Officer dropped down to the ground and was injured. Shooter immediately turned and fired on Trump.

Which makes sense given their mandate. Protect. At all costs. The close in cordon's ONLY responsibility is to physically ensure with their own bodies that no harm comes to the principle. They are not there to gunfight assassins, especially if it comes at the expense of providing that protection. If they can engage of course they will but only after protection is covered.

Very sad. There was a video posted earlier on the thread and I think this guy was in the upper bleachers to Trumps left. On that video you can see right as the first shot is fired someone immediately crumple and pitch forward falling.

The statement from the guy in the red shirt that was beside him indicates he fell down into the bleachers immediately so I think that was the guy in the video.

Still doesn't answer the biggest question I have in all of this…

WHY WASN'T SS ACTUALLY STATIONED ON THE ONLY HIGH POINT WITHIN 200 YARDS OF THE STAGE?

Not just watching it…STATIONED on it…

There is a water tower right behind the AGR buildings that is 2.5-3X higher than any roof around. 150 yds to shooter 265 to Trump. Inexcusable for both not to be manned or stationed with a wireless camera to monitor.

I do not believe the snipers on red barn could not see him because of the roof pitch. Tree leaves, light, clothes similar to roof etc but pitch angle NO.

Witnesses on ground are 10-12' below shooter and see him. Snipers on red barn are probably +20'. The ground rises to red building, they are on roof, and then standing or kneeling above their ridge.

Damn, that's even worse. Regardless of their politics, firefighters put their lives at risk every time they go to a fire, and they don't care what the politics are of those at the location; they just do their job to save them.

Guy had a decent spot that hid him well. In one video it looks like they are looking for him, sniper takes eye off scope to get a wider FOV, locates him, scoped back in and then snap fires at him. If that's the case I have no issue with counter snipers.

A building that close being left unsecured is a massive planning failure. That cannot be washed away.

Exactly what I was trying to say
This is what boggles the mind. Why didn't the SS have this area secured during the rally? You'd think they'd have any spots with LOS to the stage secured.

People keep asking about the ladder...but these type of buildings all have ladders attached. That's not unusual.

I pointed this out almost immediately when the ladder came into the conversation. It doesn't even look like a portable ladder, too vertical.
This is a metal building with no HVAC on the roof. That ladder was brought in, either by the shooter, or someone trying to get to the shooter.

I am going with the shooter for the simple fact, that it is behind a tree in an alleyway between 2 buildings that are connected by a hallway. this nook is obscured and the connecting hallway is not as tall as either building. So you can climb up onto the hallway and then crawl onto the connecting roof. Google Street view from Nov 2023 does not have a ladder.

Perhaps the ladder was concealed prior to the event in, or behind the tree? Either way, Secret service has no line of sight to that nook, and once on the roof, the shooter is concealed from the view of the Secret Service until they crest over the ridge.

Looking from the opposite end of the building, where the videos were taken of the dead shooter lying on the roof, you can see that the back of the building is below grade, there is a sizeable dip. So the people standing out in the grass yelling at law enforcement are elevated enough to where they can actually see onto the roof.

This is a great post of factual information and I thought the same without posting it. 150 yards elevations can change drastically. I was wondering myself if the SS had a hard time picking him up because of the roof pitch and elevations

The Secret Service work for embattled DHS head Mayorkas. Who thinks it wasn't an inside job? That **** and the Biden appointee woman head of the Secret Service want Trump dead.

if true, that may have been just enough to knock the shooter off his focus, rush the shot, and miss Trump.

Trump turned his head at that precise moment just enough for it to be a non-fatal shot.

And the shooter wasn't hidden from the SS by the angle of the roof. He was still in the same prone position when they finally decided they couldn't allow him to take any more shots (and their midget stage team had to respond to the gunfire by wrapping themselves around Trump).

Advanced team should have had that building circled on their maps when they briefed the site team. Failure to secure that location is a giant failure and the team leads careers are probably over for not securing it.

Maybe didn't practice recoil recovery enough?

I shoot a 270 weatherby (magnum) suppressed and have little to no recoil. My AR10 suppressed is silky smooth with super sonic rounds. Suppressors are a game changer and I'm assuming he had one based off sound in the vids. If so, he wouldn't have had any issues with recoil recovery in a semi automatic platform.

This - there are many many questions that need answers. Not the standard smug "we have no knowledge" or "can't comment on an ongoing investigation" or "I have no knowledge of..."

We can all see that it was clear that several attendees, police, and SS knew there was a man with a gun on a rooftop - yet didn't alert the SS responsible for protecting Trump.

We need answers.

If PD was in the area, how did they not see him Ont he ground, scaling a ladder and walking / crawling on the roof? How im the hell did the Secret Service fail to have glass on that building regardless, it was unmanned. Also, the response team that ran to the podium would have been better on the roof than a counter sniper, or at least in support. If this guy had a partner whose job was to pin down the counter sniper, we wouldn't have the same conversation.
I fail to see how any leader in the secret service associated wi th this should keep their job. Unless they asked for more assets and were rejected, even then they failed to properly assess and account for the risks.

All he wanted to do was attend the event of a candidate he supported with his family and show his convictions, and he was murdered for it.

No doubt his story will get lost in all the callous responses trying to blame Trump or downplay what really happened - or push the lie that it was staged.

Prayers for his family.

The man who lost his life at the Trump rally was identified as Corey Comperatore, the fire chief of Buffalo Township. Spent his entire life saving others.

According to his family, Corey's final act was heroically shielding his young daughter from the gunfire when he took a fatal round to the head.

Holy ***** Let's say I believe this.

A dude on the roof was able to point at a cop climbing up the wall, then spin, aim and make an accurate shot a long ass way away. In fairly windy conditions.

That dude was trained. He's no amateur.

150 yards tops is not a long ass way away. The wind was also not that significant of a factor unless this was a massive subsonic round tumbling at around 1000fps

I'm not sure how accurate that report is. I think there may be some CYA in the local PD's version of what happened. To my mind, if an officer saw this shooter on the roof and did anything other than attempt to draw down on him, he didn't do his job.
