My MIL is very anti gun. She said all sorts of things like this and I just couldn't stand it so I made the mistake of challenging her. I asked her how she could advocate for regulation of items she doesn't know even the basics about. She replies, "'my grandfather used to make guns" presumably implying that means she knows plenty. I point out several of her most basic falsities and tell her that doesn't mean YOU know anything about them. It did not go over well and as always with leftists, their ignorance/hypocrisy never registers. Leftists cannot be reasoned with.

Oh for sure. Have the exact same issue with my mother. A month ago she was expressing surprise to me that my former BIL who was very liberal owned a Glock. She said, " I can see a 9mm but a Glock?!" I didn't have the heart to tell her Glock makes 9mm handguns like every other manufacturer.
