This is pretty obviously clickbait, in that Sotomeyor was never in danger, she was asleep in her condo, and the attempt was made on one of her protection detail out in the street.

I am curious as to why this was hushed, and not reported for four days.

It does seem to imply that Sotomayor herself was carjacked, but it still says plenty bad about DC that this would happen in a neighborhood where a Supreme Court justice lives.
