A&M Athletics has a pretty generic July 4th post, and a ton of people bring up Juneteenth and how they don't (or shouldn't) celebrate the 4th. I understand things went a little south last month on the same page when they posted a Juneteenth message, but some people just can't be happy.

So do I. Our small town of around 8,000 has over 1,000 American flags in front of homes and businesses. This is part of the Lion's Club fundraiser. For like $25 a year, they put up a flag in front of your place 7 or 8 times a year. The flags are all over town and this has been going on for probably 20 years now.

It actually ended a couple decades after the Civil War when the US Army forced the last Native American tribes, at the point of a rifle, to release their African slaves. How ironic.

not that I am aware of but the end of the Civil War meant jack to Native Americans who held African slaves. Or really any slaves they still held.
