Bash or praise Sharp on the other thread. For those of us out of the College Station Loop, let us know specifically what Sharp has done that has helped or hurt A&M.

I'd really like to know why he is either praised or bashed. Many of us love Aggieland, but aren't privy to the intramural politics.

Please read the thread, and star things you agree with, rather than posting them 15 different times. To keep it clean, a single action per post, and thumbs up or down.

I'll go first. When hapless President Young was allowing idiots to protest Sully, and allegedly was planning to remove the statue, Sharp put an end to that nonsense.

He votes Democrat, so he is the number one enemy to my state, country, and my offspring. Don't really care if he has done a few good things here and there. I hear Pol Pot visited an orphanage once.

***If he is no longer a democrat, and has openly renounced his faith and sincerely apologized for being an evil godless democrat, my apologies, I take back what I said. But only if he has openly begged for forgiveness.

Good: sul ross statue.

Bad: he hired young and just about every other decision he ever made.

When Kyle Field was being renovated, he wanted 12 empty seats on the student side to symbolize the 12th Man. Completely out of touch.

I'm not even an Aggie, and understand the 12th Man (singular) better then he does.

Under Sharp's leadership, A&M is now a partner in the operating contracts of two major nuclear complex facilities.

A&M has been part of the operating group of Los Alamos National Lab for a few years. We will soon be a partner in operating the Pantex Plant, an essential part of building and maintaining the nation's nuclear weapons stockpile.

This will lead to billions in budgets, job opportunities for grads, and national and international prestige.

He has raised an absolute ton of money for the A&M system in the legislature. That is without a doubt his best skill.

Think about how low of a bar that is lol. Stopping psychotic hate fueled leftists from tearing down one of the biggest historical landmarks on campus...one that plays a direct part in one of our biggest traditions. Clap clap...

Not just the legislature. The amount of private research and federal government research dollars/projects he's brought in his staggering. Like generational change level. And what he's done with the Rellis Campus is mind blowing and impressive.

But like Jimbo's plaque and DEI and *****

A&M has countered TTech's foray into a Vet school in Amarillo, by expanding A&M's Vet School onto the Canyon WTAMU campus.

I believe those 12 seats were to symbolize the Aggies we lost in the Bonfire collapse, not the 12th Man as a whole. I may be misremembering so feel free to correct if so.

I stand 100% corrected! Maybe the original idea was for the 12 lost and he misinterpreted? I'm really not sure now. Could have sworn it had to do with bonfire collapse.

I remembered it that way too. Did they end up following through with the idea? Are there 12 empty seats?

He made Mark Welsh, a former Obama appointee, interim president after Banks resigned and then recommend him as president of A&M. A&M has traditionally been a conservative university that should want nothing to do with DEI or any Obama appointee.

Welsh has consistently been in opposition of anti-DEI initiatives by the state and pushes it wherever he can.

Before that, he appointed Katherine Banks, another DEI proponent. And before that he brought in Young, who created a racially divisive campus.

DEI, under any name is toxic to A&M's culture. Not because it is pro-minority, but because of the way it's pro-minority. Before the onslaught of DEI policies, A&M resisted affirmative action policies, and focused on qualifications (something Amerika today sorely lacks). This policy brought in just as many minorities as t.u. did with their affirmative action policies. A&M in the past has focused on people's character. Now it's more about diversity check boxes.

He's Catholic, so I don't believe he's renounced his faith.

Funny how you think you know so much about a man because of his political affiliation. Comparing him to Pol Pot....that's a new one. I guess we all make our own judgements about other Aggies based on what we think we know about them....without every knowing them.

It goes to show that A&M has given diplomas to a wide spectrum of people, so I guess we can't really assume most Aggies are good people....until we know their voting record and then regardless of how they've helped other Aggies, we can decide whether to hate them or not.

Maybe we can talk the AFS into listing every former students political voting record so we can avoid doing business or interacting with other Aggies without having to meet them or base our thoughts about them on their actions.

Its almost disgusting to think that at any given Aggie game, while we sing the Aggie War Hymn, arms locked, that we might be touching someone who voted for a Democrat.

Welsh and Banks are far more conservative than you give them credit for. Both of them being named as president helped prevent another Young from getting into the seat. I guess you hated Gates too when Obama decided to let him stay as SecDef instead of immediately canning him.
