Kinda looks like it already failed....

Was this one covered in the Infrastructure Bill or do we need another couple trillion to fix dams?

The infrastructure bill sent most of the money to diversity programs, which is our strength, and not to actual repairs or upgrades of existing infrastructure because diversity is our strength, which is the most important part.

Pride flags painted on streets. Trans stealing airport luggage. Airplanes almost falling out of skies and DEI air traffic controllers almost committing tragic failures on the ground. 7 EV charging stations. I could go on and on and libs know their policies have been nothing but cash and grab.

Throw some diversity on it, it will be fine.

Democrat spending bills are always about money laundering and kickbacks. New Orleans levees are their gold standard.

Looks like this is a run of the river type dam; there is no lake impounded behind it.

Basically what happened is the flooding jammed up a lot of debris at the dam, and the water what water does, found another path. In this case around the sides of the dam and quickly eroded the soil.

In this case, it isn't failing due to poor maintenance, but rather an event it wasn't intended to encounter.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

That's one way for a substation rebuild to get to the top of the priority list…. Although site selection may need to be rethought…

That reminds me of 2002 when I was out at Medina Lake visiting my folks. The water was WELL over the spillway and came within less than 2 feet from going over the dam. There were real concerns it would collapse...

You could hear the water rushing over the spillway from my folk's house and we were at least a mile away around a corner from the dam.

Pretty scary. Washed away a number of houses down stream from what I remember.

Exactly why it will be blamed on Climate Change and how Trump and his policies will just make it worse.

Ummmmm, a river-based dam wasn't intended to encounter debris from rising waters?

Sounds like something a river-based dam would actually be designed specifically for. And a contingency available for this exact issue.

Dems don't even attempt to just skim the cream anymore. They outright steal the cream, the milk and the bucket it came in while calling you racist for asking what happened to the milk you labored to obtain and then gave to them because they said it was needed to feed orphan babies.

The dam hasn't failed. The water is bypassing the dam. Not sure if there was a spillway designed there or not, but there's definitely one there now.

The big zero (obama) and his band of corrupt-o-crats promised a great infrastructure re-build. What happened? Not much.

This government is so corrupt and wasteful, it is staggering to think what the consequences will be for our children and grandchildren.

Not true. They changed signs of already almost completed projects...up in that specific area of the country...to show that it was due to their just-enacted BS.

Saw it with my own 4 eyes.

35, from Des Moines and into Missour-ah, had stretches that were underway when I made my first trips from IA to TX in 2007. Had signage of when it would be completed....years later...that were changed to show the same everything but added the new "info" that it was due to President Dip**** and his F-tardism. I posted about it back then, but alas...all the way-way-back machine on TA is broke-dick.

That was a substation. (See the tangle of metal btwn the dam and the flow). This my earlier comment.

Looks like the County's Dam (and was still being used for hydro power) guess some of that money should have gone to maintenance

The spillway was blocked by debris.

The dam likely was never designed to handle a flow rate 42 times higher than normal with the spillway being clogged up.

So, a failure at the O&M level? Probably had budget cuts where they had to get that 10% to the big guy and the Uke's... so they had to stretch out the routine stuff.
