Of course but the POTUS leads his party's policies in Congress and he also has veto power.

We're so screwed. In the past 15 years we've had two world threatening events (the '09 global crash and the pandemic) that needed one off temporary spending increases to avoid global apocalyptic ruin. Then magically we just move the baseline spending up to comprehend that emergency spending as part of a new floor. God we are stupid. Where the hell is all that "emergency" spending going year after year

The House ultimately controls the purse, but the leader of the Executive does have some say.

While I agree Trump is a big spender just like Biden, we should quit blaming the leader of the Executive branch for the spending issues when the blame lies directly at the feet of the House.

Our representatives have given up on their responsibility and successfully fooled the populace into thinking the blame lies with opposing party's leader of the Executive branch.
You are correct and it seems this was discovered a couple of thousand years ago:
  • Look at the orators in our republics; as long as they are poor, both state and people can only praise their uprightness; but once they are fattened on the public funds, they conceive a hatred for justice, plan intrigues against the people and attack the democracy.
  • You vote yourselves salaries out of the public funds and care only for your own personal interests; hence the state limps along.
Aristophanes
Among the latter, under pretence of governing they have divided their nations into two classes, wolves and sheep.”

Neither "event" needed govt intervention. Especially given that both were caused by...wait for it....govt intervention.

Exactly

Hell, Trump wanted the checks he was writing to, literally, have his name on them. And Biden coined "Bidenomics" for his idiotic ****tard policies.

PotUS has the final say, barring veto override.

This is why you don't select liberals, regardless of the letter by their name on TV.

Trump is not a liberal. Your shtick is so tired.
He's also not a conservative. He's a populist who will do/say whatever gets him elected. Which is why some of his takes are just test comments to see how his supporters will react.

Biden has been horrible for this country's debt....But if Trump actually does a 10% across the board tariff on all products coming from overseas....I sure hope the retailers eat that and don't pass it on to the consumers. How the government spends money eventually impacts all of us....How much things cost effects me directly
