And the left's assault on language and culture continues. Death by a million cuts.

They aren't fragile. They are narcissistic and self absorbed and claiming offense gives them attention and power.

So basically...bullies. Sometimes, bullies get their teeth pushed down their throat by someone fed up with their BS.

The term crybully has been coined. They whine to any sympathetic authority or mob with a narrative claiming to be harmed or claiming to intend to stop harm to a victimized third party in order to turn the wrath or retributive power of that entity against their target.

I'm becoming increasingly reluctant to fly, or to put my children on airplanes. My kids will be flying for a school trip in JUly and I'm not particularly thrilled about it.

Just fly an Asian carrier. Even if you have to travel via Dubai to get from Houston to D.C.
At least you'll know that the flight crew has their business in order.

Daughter trained Asians. I don't think she would always agree. Her Japanese students, for instance, were good. But they would never disagree with her or admit they didn't understand something, at least at first. Usually took about three tries for them to admit when they didn't understand

Don't worry, a lot of the Asian carriers hire Australians, etc. as pilots. Sometimes even Americans.

In my travels across Asia running technical training courses, in Japan, it wasn't that they didn't understand the concept, it was that they didn't understand English - at all. Most American trainers didn't speak slowly enough for the translators to catch up. And most Americans assumed some base level of knowledge for the Asian audience that gave them way too much credit. You had to start with the basics and then follow up with 3 rounds of reinforcement.

The real places we had problems were in countries where they claimed to speak English like India.

Her experience was that the Japanese had good knowledge but when they didn't know an answer they would not admit it.

It was seen as both a personal failing and as disrespect towards the instructor.

See the Asiana "We Too Low" crash as an example of not wanting to disrespect a superior

The only Asian airlines I'd trust on the same level as US or European carriers are those like JAL/ANA and historically Cathay but not so much anymore. Good service though without the bitter skyhags our carriers have.

We were talking about that and one of our test pilots made the comment that the best thing about the foreign air carriers was that they discriminate...
