I was surprised at that too. Maybe that close you assume it doesn't matter. Most monitors are pretty thin but if you hit the stand or something like that there's usually thicker metal. And it wasn't a flat angle, that thing was 45 degrees almost.

Very interesting choice and hopefully all those aspects were considered. Best possible outcome however so you can't argue with results.

Yep...and there is no way the dude's arm he is bracing it on is able to be completely still. Doesn't not seem like the easiest shot, even at that range, given how close the hostages were to their captor.

Not my observation, but I agree and am forwarding...

VERY good chance the sniper did not see the monitor in his optic. The optic sits above the barrel and is zeroed at a point where the bullet will be at some point in the future. At that distance the bullet is likely still on the uphill climb of it's ballistic trajectory.

Don't know what his drops are for his loads, but he got have easily been aimed 3,4, maybe 5 inches high?

I bet if he saw the monitor he doesn't take the shot.

That wasn't quiet. It's just the Micorphone couldn't pick up the actual report. Same thing watching drag racing. Microphones can't pick up how loud it actually is.

It was suppressed and the swat team were all wearing Earpro. But it still was 145-150 decibels.

I'm not a firearms expert, but that was my thought, too.

I've heard too many stories of side mirrors vehicles shot out because the scope was looking over them.

This was an idiotic shot that he got away with.

If he knew he was shooting through a monitor he should never have taken the shot. That means he is seeing the monitor in his scope and not his target. Or he's seeing the perp and guessing on the monitor. Hitting anything and deflecting and the next thing you know you have an uncontrolled round that goes into the hostage.

If he didn't know he was shooting through a monitor, well he's an idiot.

Add in doing it from someone else's shoulder as a platform.

He got away with it but it's still idiotic.

He won't do that again.
