Austin and Travis County had record breaking homicides two years in a row after defunding their police. The lifelong Dem voter in this documentary admits that the only thing that keeps Austin from becoming Portland, San Francisco, or Seattle is that Texas has a Republican state government.

Also because of HB17 (passed in 2023), Travis County Soros DA Jose Garza is facing a removal trial after a judge accepted the removal petition. The judge also appointed a Republican county attorney to prosecute the case against Garza.

Ironically I was a funeral Monday and saw some family members I had not seen in years. My cousins daughter lives in Austin and works in tech. He boyfriend, who seems like a decent guy, told me he had move to Austin from NY where he grew up.

When I asked him what brought him to Austin he told that he wanted to live in a fun, liberal, city, but it had to be in a state that was controlled by Republicans to keep things sane. So it came down to Austin, Nashville, or Miami/Fort Lauderdale. I just smiled and didn't take the conversation further.

I guess, if nothing else, it makes him a smarter lib.

I hate when people say things like "I don't care if you're left, right, or in the middle. I just care for quality of living" or some such nonsense. That is exactly the problem - people on the left. The reason there's a homeless crisis, rampant crime and drug usage, ****ty schools and virtually every social ill are because of left wing ideology/democrats.

Look at Japan. Japan is one of the most conservative countries in the world. This stuff doesn't happen there because of good conservative governance. Japan is 9 times more densely populated than the US.

There is one issue and one issue only that prevents Republicans from winning in landslides. Abortion. I'm saying that as a staunch pro-lifer and am in no way suggesting anything other than banning baby murder. But the fact is a huge chunk of democrats would abandon that party in its current insane state if it wasn't for this issue.

ETA: this is not meant to derail. It is in the context of democrats like in the OP that know that Republican policy makes for better living conditions.

I'd like to say it's Trump only, but it's not. Whomever the flavor of the month is will be vilified just as bad. Now that lawfare is the accepted Dem election interference method, I'm 100% certain it will be worse, and not because of the jail time. They're also after bankrupting the folks running for office.

The Dems don't care who it is, what color, or what degree of genderism they are as long as they believe in freedom and liberty and "don't think properly".

As the summer wanes, and pending Trump's imprisonment, I still think our lefties who LOVE democracy will try to whack Trump sometime after September if it's the last resort.

Why not? Nearly everyone on their side supports it and has no issue with it. All you gotta do is hire a contractor and I'm certain the Dems would blame the Republicans.

But, they did the same thing to Reagan, both Bushes, but less so to Romney. There were a lot of happy folks around when Reagan got shot.

Dems get to destroy evidence all the time---the 12 attorneys in the Russia fiasco crushed their government phones, the entire evidence from J6 was destroyed, and of course, the champion Hillary.
