It's political.

Parton often defaults to humility as her reason for staying out of politics and partisanship.
Amazing lady!
And smart. If you're making a living as an entertainer, maybe don't piss off half the country. Looking at you, Natalie Maines (then scrubbing my eyes with bleach).
This. Exactly. Big time.
Reminds me of the late, great Elvis Presley. In the late 60's/early 70's, in an interview, Elvis was asked by a reporter that, if given the fact that he chose to serve in the US Army when he was drafted rather than try to get out of his commitment (which probably could have been pulled off by pulling the right strings), What did he think of the people who were dodging the draft to avoid Vietnam?
Elvis basically said: 'I am just an entertainer and I choose to just entertain people with my music and leave that to others'.
Genius answer. Just entertain people. Elvis wasn't a politician and nothing would be gained by taking a for or against stance on the issue. He would only hurt himself by answering and his answer wouldn't have changed a single person's opinion on the issue.
I wish today's athletes and entertainers would realize and grasp this very simple concept,no matter how you feel. Nobody buys your records or attends concerts or athletic events because of your political stances.
