Aside from just the shadenfreude of our leftist "betters" being humiliated and unemployed.

how would the culture and politics actually change if this really happens?

Meaning, would the politics of the country change if there was not a mass of cultural elites supporting LGBTQ/Hamas/Socialism/Marxism/Obamaism?

Ashton Kutcher and Others see end of Hollywood

Referencing a new processor from Nvidia, which is supposedly 30 times as performant as existing software, Kutcher said video-generating platforms like Sora are about to become exponentially better.

"You'll be able to render a whole movie. You'll just come up with an idea for a movie, then it will write the script, then you'll input the script into the video generator and it will generate the movie," he said. "Instead of watching some movie that somebody else came up with, I can just generate and then watch my own movie."

Sora sent ripples through Hollywood when OpenAI released preview footage in February. Not everyone is optimistic about the burgeoning software: Tyler Perry, for one, halted an $800 million studio expansion project in Atlanta after seeing what Sora could do.

Would be pretty cool if you could take your favorite existing books and just immediately convert them to movies to watch.

I think this is EXACTLY what Kutcher is talking about when you read the article.

that anyone will just create whatever movie you are personally interested in and not have to rely on seeing some Hollywood produced junk.

Very good article especially reading Kutchers personal experience with it.

Here is the full context around Perry. This looks like a very real existential threat:

"Tyler Perry, for one, halted an $800 million studio expansion project in Atlanta after seeing what Sora could do.

"There's got to be some sort of regulations in order to protect us," he said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. "If not, I just don't see how we survive.""

If it can be an issue for movies then it can also be an issue for music and digital art. Anything requiring live performance or physical media (ex: paint on canvas) has less to worry about… for now.

Elections are when people find out what politicians stand for, and politicians find out what people will fall for.

Extend this to all entertainment and it leads to one of those dystopias where people get completely immersed in virtual AI entertainment and lose common cultural frames of reference. You'd be able to experience a thing but there would be nobody else to talk with about it except for you pushing them to see something customized for yourself.

which is funny because the rage of "NFTs" about two years ago was that no one would need to buy a painting again.

It seems more like a come to Jesus moment for Hollywood to me.

All those crappy movies pushing their social agenda aren't going to cut it anymore.

The work of the best creative minds will rise to the top. For Hollywood, that may be their death knell. The barrier to entry will be lower and the best creators will likely want nothing to do with that cess pool.

The movie industry as we know it may cease to exist but the movies we consume will be better as a result.

Maybe, but I think it is just as likely that everyone just has a social media channel where some content creators will upload their AI creations, just like they do with short videos and pictures at the moment. There will be those you follow and those you don't, and the best at utilizing the new tech will be paid by their views and ad promotion.

Yeah, but it becomes like what i experience now. There are "too many" choices in that you get lost looking through them and have little reference as to what is worth your time or not. Choice has a value but also a diminishing return. I often find myself rewatching things I know I like verses spending a long time just searching through more hours of media to consume than hours remaining in my lifespan by a orders of magnitude.

I call this the Chinese takeout paradox. Nobody has a favorite takeout place because there are so many and they all taste about the same.

I'll take more social media and less Hollywood every damn day.

To Mouth's point, I think we'll see movies made by many independent artists using AI to enhance and flesh out their ideas for mass consumption. It would almost be like a return to the old days when there were tons of low budget movies, some of which went on to become classics. I think this could be awesome. Movie producers totally unencumbered from budget constraints and Hollywood bs. The good movies will be shared widely.

You will have your own AI to screen that content and find things you may like.

My therapist told me recently that, because I do so much internal monologue and thinking within myself, I'm really just having a relationship with myself. So, I guess I'm ahead of the curve for once, which is nice

Good, I hope those hateful judgmental narcissistic sociopathic left-wing Hunger Games freaks are torn apart when they can't hack it in the real world. Hope as many as possible go broke...silver lining is that maybe some of these degenerate freaks will find God. Hope this happens sooner rather than later. I have all the old and recent classics I need.

I think AI porn will be banned within 10 years of it taking off, if not sooner.

Aren't there already IG AI created celebs, mostly hot attractive "women" with millions of followers?

Why pay a real celebrity when you can generate a more attractive one for nearly free? And then have AI create a personality weighted off living or dead celebs. Boom most talented actress ever.

By whom? Tech illiterate boomer politicians? Sexually debaucherous Dems?

Also - there's an argument to be made that AI removes the victim in creation of the media as it becomes less "worth it" to abuse women & children on camera.

There MAY be a legal provision regarding name/image/likeness in an attempt to protect real people from being represented in these ways, but good luck in enforcing that…

Also - depravity of what gets produced and viewed will be insane, which will really mess with the consumers of this filth, but at least there's not an animal abusing / sexually assaulting a living girl on the other side of that screen.

Current Hollywood, maybe.

But back in the day, what made movies special was a director having a very distinct vision for how to tell the story and use the cameras in that capacity. It was much more impactful than just following a script.

Anyhow, current Hollywood sucks at telling stories. But a guy like Speilberg probably laughs at what Ashton talks about.

That would be awesome. No more cutting ore content to make it fit within 2h window. Imagine the 13 books in The Wheel of Time converted into full length movies. 200+ hour series.

Same for LoTRs, man that would be awesome.

No embellishments, wokism, etc. Just the way the author wrote it.
