I've seen gas as low as $2.74 a gallon, which is a twenty-five-cent drop over the past few weeks. Many on here said the SPR release was only going to account for a few cents drop and not something like this.

Do any of you in O&G know why this drop when we're all used to prices jumping in the beginning of summer?

Memorial Day weekend has passed and less people are traveling. Besides, they need to appease the alphabet mafia this month.

Oil dropped about $.20/gal as concerns about Middle East escalation have gone down and global inventories are up. Concerns about the Chinese and American economies aren't helping.

I do. I also remember that nearly all of the country was basically closed for business then, so there was a significant drop in the need for people to buy gas.

Elect Trump for energy independence. Right now we're subject to too many global influences.
Trump will fix it.

Along with the rest of the world and oil is the ultimate global commodity. Essentially, we were among the first countries to reopen.

Yet another lie from you....

Trump left lockdown decisions to governors

Governors on your team led the most severe lockdowns

You guys missed the vote buying. Biden released from strategic reserves to lower prices.

Even if we get back to the Trump "energy independence", we'll still need those heavy oils for blending. We need more drilling and the Keystone

He thinks he's being sarcastic but he's actually correct. Biden released 1 million barrels of refined gasoline to the market for the period between Memorial Day and July.

Thats 55 million gallons.

Also, planned maintenance is over at refiners so they can operate at full-ish capacity.

Finally, the price of oil is down a bit due to a global slowdown in consumer activity.

what does this even mean? we've been a net oil exporter every year since 2020. domestic production has recovered from the pandemic slump to all time highs.

are you suggesting gas prices were not still depressed by pandemic related global demand collapse in late 2020?

Trump had a pro oil policy. You can't just hand wave that away. Biden shut the pipelines down FIRST DAY in office.

Try harder.
Trump will fix it.

Biden to Release 1 Million Barrels of Gasoline to Reduce Prices at the Pump Ahead of July 4

He's already tapped half of the oil from the Strategic Oil Reserve to save himself and screwed future administrations, why not do it more?

if the $2 gas prices in 2020 were because of trump's pro oil policy and not covid demand collapse, why weren't they $2 before the pandemic?

The US consumes ~21MM Barrels/Day of crude. We use ~9MM barrels of gasoline a day. 1MM barrels is less than a gnat on a newt's ass.

Gas prices will not go below $2 unless you want an economic slowdown.

There's an OPEC meeting this weekend. Saudi will extend cuts into 2025. Saudi also summoned the Kazakhstan oil minister to tell them to slow the F down.

Gasoline demand is down globally. The only market with material growth is India and they are being supplied by Russia and Iran. What's interesting is that despite Russian sanctions, their exports are roughly the same. Instead of Europe getting more it directly theirs an added layer of cost and they get it indirectly. US exports are also near all time highs.

Jet fuel demand is only thing growing domestically. 2M more passengers this Memorial Day weekend than last year.

You don't seem to understand fluctuating markets very well. And oil started going down when Trump took office. Yes demand softened during Covid but the pro oil policies were in place earlier. Anti oil policies have been in place since President Oopsie got in office, and it shows. Gas is lower temporarily because he keeps squandering our strategic reserves.
Trump will fix it.
