12 years and over 200k here

I think I can get another 2 years out of her, than sell it to a Immigrant for 5k, or keep it as a work truck

I am amazed how little posters on this thread actually drive.

I drive 200k miles roughly every 4 years between family and work.

We purposely moved closer to work when we lived in Dallas. I was 5 miles from work so by default I never really had any commute miles.

I now work from home and drive literally about 1 mile per week. We also now live in a small town so there is really no where to go anyway. Everything we drive to is within a 3 mile radius.

I haven't driven less than 24K per year in over 20 years right now I drive Katy to Pasadena 4 days per week.

My wife on the other hand drives about 150 miles per week

Cost of maintenance is going up too - but faster for new cars with new advanced features.

Many mechanics are advising people to keep their older, less automated cars, as the cost of maintenance for driving assist, auto-breaking, and other new features are very expensive.

I was told the same last year. "Keep that '02 chevy till it hits 400k. These '21 Sierras have a ton of issues. If you have to buy new, hold out for a '22"

New and used car prices will come down. Dealers won't have a choice.

I don't really like driving very much.

Hard to make a proper sammich if you're driving.

I have never made a sammich.

I no longer make imaginary food since I gave up my pink play kitchen at 6 years old.

Seen this on the Automotive board. Vehicles made during COVID should be avoided, apparently. Shoddy workmanship and supply issues did not produce reliable vehicles.

We've always kept ours 8-12 years depending on how the vehicle is doing.

Yeah, "lube job" isn't heard anymore. 2017 MKX, over 3 grand to replace CV joint covers.

What's funny is I called and asked about my Sienna and getting alll the zerk fitting greased around 6-7 years old

Toyota told me there are in grease fittings. Just drive and replace.
There may be a very good reason for this.

Too many people thought that you should keep applying grease until they see it coming out. If you like to blow the seals, that's the way to go.

I keep my vehicles for at least 10 years.

We keep a vehicle until around 200k+ miles. Have never had a problem reaching that number without major issues.

My car is 15 years old. If it ain't broke, why replace it?

My car is 12 years old with under 147k miles. Car shopping is my least favorite shopping (appliance shopping is in second place) for a number of reasons including shady tactics by the salesmen so as long as my car runs, I'm not getting a new one.

I disagree.

Every potential buyer gets a lube job from the car salesman.

So is ethanol in gasoline not as bad for engines as we thought?
